I need a change...I would love to try acute care, but can't really devote the time to an orientation/ preceptorship that I would need to do.
LTC is all I've known for the last 15 yrs. I'm just looking for a change of facility. Anyone want to comment on some facilities....the good, bad the ugly. Any you would avoid? Good pay rates?
If you'd like to keep it private, PM me.
Thanks for any info!!
Actually UPMC has done away with "tuition forgiveness." They are saying they want to put more money into staff retention. I saw it on another thread here. It shouldn't be too hard to find with a search. It wasn't that long ago. Whether this improves things remains to be seen.[/quote']I hope you are right about UPMC putting some MEANINGFUL effort into staff retention. My daughter is planning on bailing to WPHAS, and a couple friends that have been in the UPMC system for around 2 years are looking for other positions as well. The Evil Empire has the resources to make itself a better place to work, but I doubt they can tear themselves away from grabbing more real estate/building new hospitals in Ireland-Italy-Quatar-Las Vegas. Maybe Pennsylvania's gangster thug governor will find some way to finally tax the huge revenues of this not-for-profit operation (he has found a way to tax everything else). In the meantime, the Evil Empire continues to gobble up community hospitals and medical practices all over the state...
