Pitt CRNA Fall 2016/Spring 2017

Hi all -

Turned in my application the beginning of January for Pitt's CRNA program. I know they did interviews in December, but I was curious to hear from those who will also be awaiting an interview in February. Just thought it would be nice for those to post when they start to hear back to give everyone a better idea of a timeline for this process. Best of luck to everyone!

I received a call Friday afternoon for January DNP entry. Can't wait to start!

Anyone know how many seats there are for the Spring 2017 class? Wondering if they're still interviewing candidates. Or if all candidates have been interviewed, if there are stills seats to be filled.

I haven't heard anything after that status email sent a few weeks ago. I'm thinking its not looking so good for me..

The interviews are definitely done...not sure if it's filled yet, but unfortunately it's a good chance.

I heard April 1st. I'm not sure if all spots are filled but you can always call and ask!

I got a call today at 1500 that I had been accepted to the DNP program. The admissions coordinator said that it has been a logistical nightmare with the MSN/DNP program. I am #2 on the MSN waitlist, so it sounds like they are still calling/ accepting people.

Hi, congrats. Would you be able to clarify this? At the interview they said it was going to work like this: The top candidates would be offered DNP admission for Jan, the rest that are being accepted would be offered MSN. It sounds like this isn't the case anymore.

Thanks for the congratulations. I was not aware that they had said at the interview that top candidates would be offered DNP. My understanding was because we applied in a transition year, they would offer both the MSN and DNP program and accept into both. I think more people wanted the MSN track, which is probably what caused the logistical problem (hence the waiting list for the MSN). Again, just my analysis of the information. Good luck to all!

The ladder of your comment is correct. It is the reverse. The most competitive applicants will be offered the MSN option in the Fall 2016 with option to transfer to the spring 2017 DNP. Once the MSN class is completely selected and filled, the DNP offers were sent out. If anyone from that class wants to be placed in the MSN they get first waitlist priority based upon their competitiveness. As you can see this process could be logistical nightmare. Since their application stated MSN program, their trying to be considerate of those who intended to complete a MSN degree.

Just got a call this morning for DNP starting January 2017! Congrats everyone and I'll keep my fingers crossed for everyone!
