Hi all,
My pinning ceremony is about a month away. I just found out today that I get to pick who pins me. My parents live in another state but have been really supportive of my journey through nursing school and I could not have done it without them. I would like them both to pin me. Can they both pin me?

That would be up to the faculty or the committee that organizes your pinning ceremony. Every school has it's own rules.

For my nursing school you could only be pinned by a nurse. It could be faculty, friend or family. Check with your school for guidelines

I had my mom, brother, and boyfriend but my school asked for family to do it.
My school allows me to pick, it does not need to be an RN. They only said it should be someone important to you. I just don't know if it is strange to have both your parents pin you. My dad is a Physician so my boyfriend thought I should pick him for that reason. But I also want to pick my Mom because any time I have been super stressed I always call my Mom. :)
Back in the day, my dad put my LPN cap on me. The school I taught at allowed parents, children or other people important to the graduate to pin them. To speed things up, the pins were put on long ribbons (school colors) that resembled lanyards that were placed over the head. It took too long to actually pin on to clothes and some ladies the dresses were of flimsy material, so the ribbons were the answer. Some students/graduates had their spouse & all the kids, parents all come up. And a quick picture really only takes less then 60 seconds.
Ask your school. Who is going to pin you? Mom with dad for support? That will be very memorable. A way of publicly honoring and thanking them for their support

That's cool you get to pick. We didn't and I was in the group pinned by the least popular instructor =(

Ask your instructors or coordinator if your parents can both go. I know several classmates that had both parents there. I had my son pin me, but my ex-husband went with him on stage (we were still married at the time).
