PICU from US to UK

Published

Hello again.

You guys are always so helpful, I thought I would try again!

I am going to possibly be working in the PICU after graduating in May 2006, however, I am afraid that the UK won't accept this as ICU experience because it is pediatric and not adult.

Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks!

Amy

The likely hood is that you will be classed as a new qualified RN so experience isn't always required. The only way is to get through with the NMC although after reading your other posts if you are marrying a UK citizen may be quicker to come out on a fiance/spouse visa (unable to come and get married in the UK now you have to have a visa to enable you to get married in the UK) You will still have the hurdle of NMC and have to do the 20 days protected learning with an accredited course which from reading the nursing times there isn't enough places for the foreign nurses outside the EU that apply and waiting lists are long.
