Theatre Nursing and RNFA
Thank you so much! I've been worried about getting a job in the UK and you've definitely helped me out. I love the Theatre but was worried that maybe I should do something more broad like ICU or Med-Surg. But I feel like my passion is in the ORs and would love to become a First Assist. I will look into all of this further. Thanks! Amy

Married or not to work as nurse in UK?
I'm so sorry that I brought you bad news!! I have contacted a travel agency in the UK (continental travel nurse) and according to them and everything I've read at the NMC you must have one year post-graduate nursing experience, so after the NCLEX. Then you can send all your paperwork in. However, I have been advised to take my English Language test and start my paperwork about 5 months before I finish my first year in order to get things moving faster. I'm just worried about getting a fiance visa because I've heard you can't work for a year and I'd rather keep my nursing license intact. So we will get married in the UK, most likely September 2007. Any other questions? Amy

PICU from US to UK
Hello again. You guys are always so helpful, I thought I would try again! I am going to possibly be working in the PICU after graduating in May 2006, however, I am afraid that the UK won't accept this as ICU experience because it is pediatric and not adult. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks! Amy

Married or not to work as nurse in UK?
Hello- I will be graduating from a BSN program in May 2006 and understand that I need at least one year experience in order to apply for the NMC. However, I am currently engaged and trying to move to the UK and work as a nurse asap! Any help would be appreciated. I am wondering if I should get my nursing licensure taken care of before getting married, because I'm worried that my visa might get mucked up in the process. Anyone with any help would be appreciated! Thanks! Amy

Theatre Nursing and RNFA
Hello all! I am currently graduating from a BSN program in Chicago, IL in May 2006. However, I will be getting married and moving to the UK in 2007. I am interested in working as a Theatre Nurse after graduation and am looking for some help. First of all, what is the need for Theatre Nurses in the UK? I'm worried about finding a job when I make it over there! Also, does the UK have Registered Nurse First Assists? I am very interested in continuing my nursing education and I know that this is a possibility in the US, but I cannot find much information in the UK. Thank you everyone. Amy

RNFA 'S
Hello all! I have a question for all of you. I will be graduating in May 2006 and am looking forward to becoming an OR nurse, and I would love to eventually become an RNFA. However, I will be moving to England to get married and live there in 2007 and was wondering about accredidations and schools there, and if this is even possible? Thanks so much. Sincerely, Amy

US nurse wants to come to UK
My next question is.. When can I start my paperwork with the NMC? I will be graduating from a Bachelor's program in May and therefore will not have a year's experience until May 2007, I didn't know if you could start your paperwork with the NMC before you had a year's worth of experience considering everyone says that it takes so long. Which by the way, I have had every company quote that it takes 3-5 months for NMC paperwork to go through including the NMC. Amy

US to UK nurse
Just a quick question: Why are you interested in working in the UK? Are you looking for something more permanent once you get there? Also. Any mention of pay through this company? Where are you looking at going in the UK? Do they help with housing? I hope your information turns out to be correct as well! I am dying for a better way to get to the UK to be with my other half. Thanks again! Amy

US to UK nurse
Thank you so much! I sent off an email to the company to see what they think of my requirements. Any idea how long the paperwork process will take? Did they give you any idea? You made my day! Thanks! Amy

UK travel OR nurse
Thanks for the reply! A two-year contract wouldn't be a problem. You see my purpose is to move to the UK and get married and work there for good. I just thought a travel contract would help push the paperwork and would help me to get a job and things. Do you know of any UK travel companies that I could contact? Amy

UK travel OR nurse
One of my friends has been travelling as a nurse for about three years now and subscribes to a Travel Nursing magazine. In the magazine they had an advertisement for UK Travel Nursing, I wrote an email and they replied and said that after six months experience they would start my paper work. Any response to this? I also found a British nurse working in London that said that she knows travel companies exist, but that they require a lot of pay into their company and she thought it would be cheaper to just go through a hospital. Anything? Thanks! One more thing... According to the NMC they require a minumum of one year's experience and then you could do a twenty-day equivalency program. So, should I start my paperwork asap, and then I'll have over a year by the time the paperwork actually gets processed? Also, any email for the NMC, I've only been able to find phone numbers. Thanks again. Amy

US Nursing student wanting to work in UK
Hello everyone- I have been reading through some of your previous questions and now I have a couple of questions of my own. I am currently finishing my Bachelors (four years) in Chicago and am interested in moving to the UK upon graduating and eventually recieving my masters in the UK for midwifery. I have been working for three years as a nursing assistant in Labor and Delivery at Northwestern's Prentice Women's Hospital in Chicago. Any advice on how to accomplish moving to England? Thank you. Any information would be more than what I have now! Amy in Chicago
