Physiology

Anyone else taking physiology this Fall?

Hi crazensweet..

What campus are you taking it at?

I took it 2 semesters ago at the Lincoln campus. It's a lot of work, but I didn't think it was as

tough as Anatomy. Not as much memorization.

I agree will North. I took it in Prov, it is a more conceptual class, rather than mindless memorization. I thought It was allot less work than Anatomy, mainly because I spent allot of time studying the lab for practicals. The labs in Phys were mostly experiments.

I loved Physiology! I thought it was really interesting, and tied together a lot of the concepts for me. Some of the experiments were pretty cool too. The best part was that while you do have to pass the lab, it wasn't weighted as heavily as it was in Anatomy. I took it in Lincoln last Spring and found it very manageable while I was taking Dosage (and caring for my house and baby!). Good luck!

thanks!!

Wow that was a breathe of fresh air!!! I kept hearing horrow stories.

Im going to take it in Providence

I was just wondering my lab buddy called me freaking out because people are freaking her out!!

But I think its just because they took it during the summer

I mean thats alot in just 7 weeks!!!!

Oh yeah! Don't let anyone freak you out! I took micro this summer and it makes it WAY tougher than it would have been spread out over a regular semester. I mean, in a summer class you're going four days a week, and there's some kind of test/lab quiz every week. You'll be fine! Good luck!

Oh you can definitely handle physiology! I obviously took it at RIC...but I'm sure it can't be too much different at CCRI. It's an interesting class, and worth really learning because you will use it a ton in your future nursing classes. GOOD LUCK!

I am taking it at RIC and it is proving to be tougher than Anatomy in my honest opinion! We are only in week two and I feel like she is speaking greek to me! :crying2: :banghead:

I can memorize an encyclopedia if I had to and this is all conceptual which I am not good at!

This is what scares me and I am starting to doubt myself! Any thoughts...am I reading into it more? Who did you have at Ric? I have Dr. A....wish it was Dr. H though!

I had Dr. M and did not have a good experience with this person, BUT I just worked hard and ended up with B+ in the class. I took it in the Fall of 2007.

I noticed that you said you memorize material....this will NOT help you in the nursing program. :(

What I would suggest is doing your assigned reading, etc., and going through each paragraph to make sure you UNDERSTAND what you're trying to learn. When you get into the program, you have to take what you learn via reading, lectures and clinical experience and be able to apply it to real life situations and on your exams. Exams include ATI's which I'm sure you've heard of: at the end of every clinical you take a standardized computer exam and it's all application-type questions.

I know that memorizing is how many people get through the sciences (I was guilty of this too....I memorized all of Anatomy and regret doing that because the info didn't stick!)....but it's important to keep going through the notes and chapters and "connect the dots" so-to-speak.

If you're interested, theres a great group of tutors over at OASIS on campus who can help you, just give them a call or stop in.

Is there any one thing you're stuck on? Maybe I could help you out?
