physical test before nursing class

Published

I just wanted to know what exactly does the physical test include...and did everybody have to take a physical test before taking nursing classes because I'm going to be attending a junior college and they said its a requirement.

Yes I had to take one, I am also attending a junior college

It consisted of everything you would do in a regular doctor visit. Nose, ears, lungs, balance, hand-eye coordination, touching your toes, stomach and lower stomach tenderness. Basic eye test, alot of health questions.

Then the blood work and tuberculosis test. I had 4 titers done.

My total was $231

Fortunately I am completely immune to everything so I have no additional medical costs.

I am attending a junior college also and they too require a physical assesment, which must be turned in on the first day of class.

The physical is a $148.00

It goes over eyes, ears, stomach, height, weight, blood test which test hemoglobin and hemocrit, urine test for albumin levels.

Urine and blood must be done at lab!

TB test $25.00

HEP B three series $148.00

MMR if you can't prove you have had it

tetnus $25.00

And of course CPR certification.

I realize it is essential that all of these things be done, but they could atleast let us get our loans first! :banghead:

Yeah financial asst would have been nice.

You can get proof of immunity of MMR at your gynecologist office if you have ever had a child. All that is tested when you are pregnant.

I will have to check into that. I am also going to check at the local health department, because i did attend grade school in the area. So they should have it on file.

THanks so much for the info.

Now why are they taking my blood??? NOOOOOO

they are taking your blood to measure hemoglobin and hemocrit levels.

Our physical was only about $30 provided you had all of your shots on file.

It really was just like a normal doctor's visit. Eyes, ears, throat etc. We also got a ton of medical questions and we had to lift and move a 50lb box.

Now I don't know about moving a 50lb box!!

Moving a 50lb box..uhmmm i dont see where that comes in...we're gonna be wherehouse nurses?lol

You will be moving patients at times, who actually usually weigh a lot more than that.

Yeah that makes sense...lol I forgot about lifting patients..
