PHSC 2015 Nursing Hopefuls

U.S.A. Florida

Hey everyone!

I found one topic on this, but it wasn't very active, so I hope this one becomes a little more successful. My name is Jennifer, and I am applying for the January 2015 Nursing Program at PHSC. My home campus is Porter at Wiregrass Ranch. Are there any other 2015 hopefuls? I'd like to get to know you all! I am taking my TEAS next Tuesday and am so nervous. This will be my first time taking the TEAS. Have any of you taken it? How was it?

Any tips? I have finished all me pre-reqs and finished with a 3.6. Not too bad, wish I would have got higher! Hope I get in! Good luck to all you ladies!

Thanks!

When is orientation? We do we get our packets for our to do list?

I am not 100% but I believe the orientation will fall towards the end of November if I read the previous semester threads correctly. The other info should arrive within a few days to a week, again if I read the other threads correctly. According to them the packet was emailed out.

Hi everyone and Congrats to everyone who got it. I was rejected for the RN, which makes no sense bc I have a 3.5 and an 82 on TEAS + residency. Oh, well. I was accepted into both LPN programs so I'll be declining one, or both. My question is this-It seems very difficult to get into the transition program, more so than even the generic RN. Why is that? Would I be better off to just reapply for the RN? I don't want to have to repeat an entire year, especially considering the costs, if I can't get into a transition program. Confused... Thx!!!

Not sure how you didn't make it Sunny-Day. I would definitely call the school just to make sure there was not a mistake. I had read on previous groups where mistakes were made and acceptance and denials were sent to the same person for the same program. Your score is higher than mine by almost 1 point. The only thing I could think of is the residency points. I was under the impression that they went off the driver license address but I made sure my address was changed in Wise as well.

Good idea, I will call the school. Thanks! My address is the same in WISE as my DL. The only think I can think it would be is that when I first started college (15yrs ago), I really bombed out. My overall GPA is low, although it's clear that went I went back to school, my grades improved. I'm more worried about doing the LPN program and not getting into the transition and having to go the generic rN route. It seems like a waste of time if no one can get into the transition and they have to redo the whole program.

I would definitely ask them what pre-req grades they used. The only grades they should have used were for the pre-reqs (Anatomy 1 and Lab, Microcomputer Apps, Intro to Psych, and Human Nutrition).

I might be wrong but I think we had two people on here applying for the bridge program and they both made it. Yesterday was a bit of a blur though :)

This is probably a dumb question but is PHSC nationally or regionally accredited. Can they be both and what's the difference?

PHSC is nationally accredited. This means that classes taken here are accepted at most other schools. Also, any degree obtained here IS valid in any other state.

Regionally accredited schools (such as Everest, , etc), are NOT valid in most states -- there's a list of which states accept each individual's degrees. You also wouldn't be able to pursue your degree any higher anywhere because other schools will not accept these credits.

Congrats Risky!

Well the next step will be to receive our packets... Anyone have some anxiety for that yet lol

Personally I am stilling floating from yesterday!

Our feelings are very much mutual. :-)

Has anyone begun to look into scrubs? I know the top has to be from the school, but the bottoms can be any white bottoms we prefer......

I already have my bottoms I chose to go with the dickies. I love pockets and the ripstop fabric.

I didn't find a real big selection of men's scrubs either. There are tons of choices for women. I didn't like how the unisex ones fit
