Hey everyone!
I found one topic on this, but it wasn't very active, so I hope this one becomes a little more successful. My name is Jennifer, and I am applying for the January 2015 Nursing Program at PHSC. My home campus is Porter at Wiregrass Ranch. Are there any other 2015 hopefuls? I'd like to get to know you all! I am taking my TEAS next Tuesday and am so nervous. This will be my first time taking the TEAS. Have any of you taken it? How was it?
Any tips? I have finished all me pre-reqs and finished with a 3.6. Not too bad, wish I would have got higher! Hope I get in! Good luck to all you ladies!
Thanks!
I'll tell you, waiting for an alternate seat is for the birds. I'm getting more anxious by the day, because orientation is Monday and I'd obviously love to go if I'll be in the transition program. I renewed my CPR tonight in an attempt to get a head start on the to-do list *just in case* but there isn't much else I can do without the seat.
Just had to rant somewhere. You guys all understand!
The wait for the original letters was already long enough, I couldn't imagine having to wait for another letter! Hang in there! You'll know soon enough :)
To answer your other question above, the reason we can't get our CPR certification anywhere else is because the class from PhSC is the only one the program will take..
For people wondering about the CPR class, be careful taking it elsewhere. I emailed Nancy about this asking if my card was valid(and didn't need to take the class), which was an AHA CPR card. She said it did not meet the requirements unless it was obtains through the specific course at PHSC. I have no idea why they're doing this... It is quite annoying because this will be my 2nd time getting certified within 2 months. I've been an EMT for years now and I really don't think I need to take the class again, seeing how I just took it again 2 months ago.
Also, I'm at the West campus, not North:(
Hi my name is maya and I've been reading this forum for a couple days now so thought it was time to make an account to ask some questions. I got accepted to Porter campus for the rn generic track. I did not get a packet or anything. I've emailed and called Nancy about this and was just spoken to rudely by her saying she'll send it eventually. So since I do not have any information, could anyone tell me what time orientTion would be and what needs to be done before orientation so I'm not lost.
Unfortunately Maya we cannot give any information on what is in the packets; doing so could result in us losing our seats. I really wish o could help you, but instead of calling Nancy, I would try and contact Connie-she is the one who originally send out the packets. She would be able to help you. Her email is on the school website (Connie Kershey) I think?? What I can tell you is that orientation is this coming Monday so you should try and get that information ASAP because you have limited time to get everything done. Sorry I couldn't be more help
Thank you for replying and I understand you do not want to risk anything, I wouldn't either. It is just making me worried that I will miss orientation and I'm just sitting here not knowing what lab tests I need to take and get done because you guys are saying there are a lot of things. Could you by chance tell me what time orientation would be or where or is that too much information to give out?

Congrats Corey.
I'm really glad you advocated for yourself and pushed until you got the answer. They really need to get better at communicating such important things. What you went through is completely unacceptable and should have never happened.
I wish you the best of luck in your pursuit at becoming an RN!
again, congrats!:)
