PHSC 2017 Fall Nursing

Published

I have decided to create a new thread for the ones that are going to apply to the ASN program at Pasco-Hernando State College. Hopefully we can share information and give some emotional support to each other :)

I was reading in the previous thread about their score system that works based on TEAS score + GPA + County residency.

My Pre-req GPA is 3.7 and I am in county resident.

I haven't take my TEAS test yet, but will post the results as soon as I have it and hopefully I will have some chance!

Is there anyone in the same boat?

If it helps you at all, I emailed my acceptance of my seat. I just told ryan and he said it's been noted. So if you can't go in person, shoot him an email.

Can one of you guys tell me when is the orientation?

I am with my application pendent in an appeal process (long and complicated story), trying to make plans for July (not sure if I am getting accepted after all), and don't want to take the risk of not being able to attend if it happen.

Thank you in advance

Orientation for transition students is July 13th. I'm not sure if it's the same for everyone

Great... right on my daughter's birthday

My orientation is the same day as well. Just a heads up, I received the Information Packet by email today. It was through my personal email which I wrote down on the acceptance letter, and not my school email. So be on the look out for your information packets.

Now there is a lot of things you must get done, such as a physical, antibody tiers, drug-screening/ background check, fingerprinting, flu-shot, etc.. Thankfully just in the last month I got alot of this done for a CNA course I'm taking at the school right now, so hopefully it's transferable which I will ask on Monday when the college is open. So check your emails, and do this stuff ASAP! Don't push it off until last minute because it's alot of stuff which takes time to get done. For example, when I did the background check for my CNA class it took a week for the results! Not trying to scare anyone who has been accepted, just don't forget to check your email and do this stuff ASAP.

Yeah I noticed and I'm already wondering how I can squeeze a lot of these in. I need almost every immunization and since my CPR certification is not through Pasco, I need to pay $56 for the class after the orientation. Lawd. I'm tired already lol ...anybody know a clinic who gives low priced shots for those of us with crap insurance?

Well most of us should have the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccines done as a requirement to attend elementary school. You have to get a titer for all 3, which checks your antibody levels to see if you still have immunity. Now for me my measles came back equivocal (neither positive or negative), so the packet says I have to get an MMR shot. I got my titers done at urgent care on mariner right before elgin next to the publix, and it took about a week for the results. It was about 50$ for each titer so roughly 150$, but I got a special listing price sheet with my CNA packet so the pricing is probably higher without that. Now with the Hepatitis-B, you can sign a waiver if you did not get your vaccines as a child. I was vaccinated so I had them do a Hep-B titer for me which was like 40$ or so.

The flu-shot, and tetorifice shot you can usually get done for free at WalMart even with crappy insurance. I did mine at the urgent care like a dummy and paid like 30$ each. The TB test is a two step test that takes about 5-7 days. They give you a shot in one arm, you wait 2 days and they read the results. Then you go back the next day and repeat with the other arm. I paid 35$ for mine (once again I had a special pricing sheet, I'm not sure the regular price). And finally the physical you can get done at walgreens, sometimes for free depending on insurance. I once again did mine at urgent care and paid like 30ish dollars.

Yes sir, I'm familiar. I'm an LPN so alot of these immunizations I've gotten time and time again. What concerns me, is the time stamps. AND my shot records don't indiciate a positive or negative reading so it seems that I have to get them ALL done again and some form of indication of the results. I had no idea Walmart did those for free, so I really appreciate that info! Money is so tight right now and I don't know how I'll fund this thing, but one day at a time.

I have my Hep B vaccines done so I'll have them do a titer as well.

Yeah it's really a time crunch to get all this done. I wish they would have given us at least a month, and not only like 2 weeks to squeeze all this stuff in..

EXACTLY! Mannn.

Any waitlisters hear back yet? I have not. Anyone know when we should know by?
