PHSC Fall 2016 Hopefuls

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all!! I'm starting this new thread in hopes of finding some returning or new applicants to PHSCs Fall 2016 RN orogram! This will be my 4th time applying 3rd in a row..... I'm planning on retaking my Teas to try for a better composite score.. will be applying to all available campuses for the RN transition program! :-)

I just wanted to pop in and say good luck to all of you. I know and remember how nerve wrecking the waiting process is to find our if you made it or not.

Anyone running a tally?

Hey this is my second time applying.I applied for the RN Generic and LPN. I got a 3.2 GPA on my Pre- Req and a 68.7 on my TEAS I hope it's enough this time. My opinion not to many people are gonna apply this fall since they added micro as a pre req, and many people haven't tooken it yet

no but we need someone too if your volunteering. lol

You don't need microbiology as a pre-req until Spring '17, so the applications may be more than usual as students try to beat that requirement for the next semester.

It is a pre req. now for transition

Hey everyone! After creeping for a while I decided to make an account. I applied for LPN at WC with a TEAS of 69.3. Not the best by far but I was just glad it was over the minimum score required. I had planned on taking it again because the science portion really took it's toll on my overall score but they had said not to bother. Apparently this is an okay score for the LPN program. Is it though? I'd really like to get in this fall.

Hey everyone!

I applied to the LPN-RN bridge program. My composite score isn't that great, so I'm scared. My application is being specially considered without Microbiology since I'm currently enrolled in it at another school (to be completed mid-June). With that being said, it's only something that goes against me in the evaluation process. I'm an LPN graduate of PHSC, but decided to go to a private school to bridge over since I could get in quick and not have to worry about this waiting process. I quickly realized, however, that the private school definitely wasn't for me.

To answer a few questions --

1) No, you cannot sit for your LPN boards as an RN student (at least at PHSC). You can use your Nursing Fundamentals transcripts to work as a PCT, though; it'll take the place of a CNA license. This also includes LPN Nursing Fundamentals. Be mindful that not all facilities accept this as a form of licensure replacement, although many do.

2) With a 74.7 TEAS, I was accepted to both of the 2015 Spring LPN campuses. Many students apply for both the LPN and RN programs, so lots 'alternate students' ended up getting into LPN since the people who got into both take the RN seat instead. I would say that a solid quarter of my class consisted of alternate students. The lowest alternate TEAS score that I know of was a 62. The lowest raw acceptance TEAS score that I know of was a 70. [For those who are unaware, there are three forms of letters: acceptance, denial, alternate seat.]

Anyways... For this year. lol.

My prerequisite GPA without microbiology is 2.76. My TEAS is 74.7. Hernando resident. That makes my composite score a 73.4

Sending good vibes to everyone! I know this is an excruciating wait. I had to deal with it last year. I don't know how I'm going to deal this year, especially with my circumstances. Ugh. I can't wait to potentially work with some of you!

PS: I took my TEAS twice before LPN school. I scored a 74.7 both times. Then I took it for the private school and got a 73.3 (accidentally picked up a shift the night before and put in zero study time). I just took the TEAS today and got a 74.7 AGAIN!! I put in some serious cramming sessions and also only got four hours of sleep total within the past two nights because of insomnia related to my messed up night schedule. Needless to say, I didn't adequately prepare myself. But, we'll see how things play out.

Again, good luck!

Sincerely,

Michael

I applied but unfortunately I think my teas score is too low, but it doesn't hurt to try. Fingers crossed!

Good luck to all!

I am trying to find ways to procrastinate on studying for my A&P II exam, so I decided to create the current list of applicants and scores previously submitted. There is another topic on fall 2016 that has very few comments so I have combined all the scores I found from both fall forums. Please let me know if i need to make any corrections. Thanks!
