Phoenix Children's Hospital New Grad Program (GAPP) Summer 2011

Nurses New Nurse

Published

This thread is for anyone applying to the Phoenix Children's Hospital Graduate Advancement Program in Pediatrics (GAPP) which is scheduled to start in July 2011. :nurse:

Has anyone applied or heard anything yet? My application still says HR is reviewing it.

Are there any current or past GAPP graduates out there that can give some advice to us hopeful new grads?!

Good luck to all those applying to this program. The job market is harsh right now for new grads.

Hey All, I know some of you guys are still waiting to hear from HR and some of you might have tried contacting them by phone but have been unsuccessful. I was just reading one of their facebook pages and you can actually ask questions on there pertaining to the GAPP program and an employee of PCH will respond to your comment. Just thought this may help some of you. Here is the link. http://www.facebook.com/PhoenixChildrensHospitalCareerOpportunities?sk=wall. I hope the link works. Oh and BTW, one of the comments that was posted said "Applications are still being reviewed" and that was written 3 hours ago.

Hello all!

I am a new grad. Was just offered an interview for the ICU/ED position on Friday. So now I am super nervous because I have never interviewed in this field before. Any advice? I'm just worried about situational questions because in clinical sometimes these made my brains fall right out of my head!

Hello all!

Congratulations and good luck! :yeah: Just be yourself and feel confident. Dont be nervous about the questions because they werent that bad. I interviewed for general peds but im not sure if the ICU/ED have different questions. I dont remember any specific questions though but I just prepared by using the John Hopkins interview guide for nurses. I just googled it. Hope that helps!

Perfect I will do that! Thanks so much! And then I guess I will be in the waiting game with everyone else. Hopefully this is the last round and they don't keep us suffering too long!

Congrats, student nurse!!!! Did you have a med/surg interview last week as well? Wildcat, I was told that we could actually get both interviews, but I havent yet heard back bout an icu/ed interview. Student nurse...did they call or email you and did they say how long they will be interviewing for?

I wasn't offered an interview for med/surg but I believe I specified ICU and ED when I applied if I remember correctly so that may have been why. I honestly answered the call thinking it was someone else so I was not mentally prepared to ask questions and just agreed to everything! She did say Friday was her soonest available so I'm thinking there will be more conducted next week. I will try to ask these questions Friday and post back any info!

Cool, good luck and let us know what juicy tidbits you get!!!! Ill letcha know if I get an update.

Best of luck today, studentnurse777!!! Let us know how it goes :-)

I contacted the recruiter today and inquired as to when applicants would be offered positions or selected for the GAPP program. She informed me that they hope to have all decisions made within the next two weeks.... So I guess the agonizing wait will continue for another two weeks.

Hey everyone I interviewed today as well for icu/ed... they're interviewing all next week too so it sounds like there's a ton of competition :'( we will see how it goes in the next two weeks! Good luck to everyone!

Hi all, I wanted to check in regarding my interview. The interviewers were such nice ladies it was difficult to tell how I did! I think I could have said anything and they would have still been great... so who knows!? They put me at ease and it was very conversational. So no need to stress for anyone who still has to interview. They did say they will let us know within about two weeks. Good luck to everyone!

Thanks for the updates from those who interviewed on Friday! I hope some more people come out of the woodwork :-) The wait is killing me but hopefully we'll learn some updates soon. Best of luck to those of us who have already interviewed and to those waiting for one as well!!!
