I wasn't going to do this, but oh well, maybe it will make some part of my brain feel better or what not. Anyway
Has anyone applied or been apcepted to Phillips Beth Isreal School of Nursing in New York? I know of one other person who applied i think, but not sure if anyone else that hangs out here did.
It would be nice to start a support thread or something, and hopefully this won't get burried in cyber space.

Thank you so much MollyMel for the info.According to my schedule, I will only be taking 11 credits for the Fall and Spring semester. Hence, I will be classified as a part-time student. And to hold onto my financial aid, I'll have to be a full-time student which is 12 credits and above. Do you know if there are other options or classes I can take where I can sneak in a credit(s) in order to be a full time student?
I was in the same boat as you, I really have no idea about financial aid since I am a second degree student and my husband and I made too much (not for NYC lol) the year before I started school for me to have been elligible.
They may offer the Spanish for Health Care Providers again in the fall (3 credits). I took that and it was really useful, it is nearly impossible to avoid getting a Spanish speaking patient at least once in clinical.
So first I would contact the financial aid office and ask them directly. Don't be shocked if you call and never get an answer and don't get a call back. They can be like that sometimes. You may need to make a trip down there and try your luck that the right people are in. Late morning is best usually. They are really nice an helpful once you pin them down though
I would make sure that your need 12 credits even for a 3 semester school (I remember some financial aid is different for 3 semesters)
Also, the student handbook says that "to be eligible for financial aid", "At the completion of the semester a part-time student taking all courses must have accrued at least this many credits"
1st year, 1st sem. 17 credits
1st year, 2nd sem. 34 credits
1st year, 3rd sem. 41 credits
That may include transfer credit for that semester?
Again, I would call the Financial Aid Officer for the real scoop. Contact names are on the school site under "Home" >> "Administration and Faculty"
Good luck, financial aid stuff makes my head hurt more than the nursing stuff.
HEy Bayley and everyone,
My interview yesterday was great!!!!!!! :bow:Bayley and Mystiqx it was exactly how you said it would be. It was laid back we spoke about my essay, school credits, she asked the same questions what do I think the purpose of the nurse is? She asked me to tell me about myself. Then it was mainly about the classes I will be taking over the summer to complete my prereqs. She told me when school starts, uniform, etc. SHe ended it by saying that I WAS THE IDEAL CANDIDATE for the evening program. She said the committee meets again on May 4th and that I should email her on MAy 5th about acceptance. I can't wait for that day, i am so excited:bowingpur:yeah:
CONGRATULATIONS:cheers:
I am sooooo happy for you. When was your interview? How many days before you got your letter. I have my interview Thursday and I can't wait I hope I get accepted the anticipation is killing me.
HI-
You asked about how long it took to get an acceptance letter? It was about week to week and a half after the interview. I had my interview in early March, the committee met a couple of days later and I found out on Friday of the same week. Then the letters went out a few days later. (I had my interview first thing on a Monday morning.)
I was able to call the school and find out the admission decision.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck! and Congratulations on your interview! Maybe I'll see you there.
I received my acceptance letter today! So happy!Does anyone know if NSG 103 (Principles of Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing) and BIO 264 (Microbiology) is offered during Fall/Spring semester or do they only offer it during summer semester in this school?
Also, I saw that courses like NSG 102 require prereq. like NSG 100/101. Am I allowed to take NSG 102 in the same semester as NSG 100/101?
Thanks and good luck to everyone else who applied!
Hi
They don't offer all the classes in every semester. You will need to take the classes as they are listed on the schools website. NSG100/101 is only offered in the Fall and NSG102 is only offered in the Spring. Micro and Psych are only offered in the Summer.
Congrats to everyone that got in and good luck to all those who are waiting for that phone call.
I am about to start my last class and will be graduating in June. It really is a great school.
