Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing in new york

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I wasn't going to do this, but oh well, maybe it will make some part of my brain feel better or what not. Anyway

Has anyone applied or been apcepted to Phillips Beth Isreal School of Nursing in New York? I know of one other person who applied i think, but not sure if anyone else that hangs out here did.

It would be nice to start a support thread or something, and hopefully this won't get burried in cyber space.

Thanks for the info Mystiqx! Also, do you know if there power outlets in the classrooms for using a laptop to take notes?

yip there are i've seen one or two classmates use their laptops to take notes in class.

Anyone taking Spanish for the Fall Semester?

Yeah I have been going back and forth with Ms. aeta first when I went back to my schedule on Monday morning nothing was there, it was as if I did not register. So I called her then this morning I checked its there but they register me for Develop. Psch the one on Tuesday, but I don't need it I took it over the summer and sent in my transcript. Then they did not register me for Math for Medications the class I do need, so hopefully everything goes well.

Thankfully I didn't have any registration issues, I'm only just waiting to hear if I can audit A&P I. Asides from that I have Spanish, Math for Meds, and Nursing 101. Hope they get everything sorted out with your schedule!

Hi Bayley,

That was my exact schedule last fall, It was very manageable. Spanish was a lot of fun, and really useful since there are so many Spanish speaking patients at BI. The clinical instructors try to give you an English speaking pt, but it is not always possible.

They wouldn't let me audit A&P last year (the prof said the class was too full), but I think I could have gotten away with just showing up for lectures as long as I keept my mouth shut.

Thanks for the info MollyMe! It's definitely good to hear that it should be a manageable load as I'm already starting to get nervous about classes starting. I wasn't sure if I should take Spanish or not but I figured it would certainly be very helpful and worth the extra time in the end.

Hey all,

Does anyone here go to PBISN or been accepted? I haven't taken Nutrition/Diet Therapy or Pharmacology. Can i still apply? If so would i have to take these courses before beginning any nursing courses or can they be taken together? I just want to know if i'd have to wait a semester before starting the actual nursing courses. Does anyone know? I'd appreciate the help.

I have a question about the uniforms. Do I have to buy the white lab coat? Do they require the white lab coat to have the emblem or can I use another white lab coat that I already have? Thanks.

Freckles you can still apply without having those 2 classes, they offer them at the school. You take the courses along with the nursing courses in the semester they are offered. Good Luck applying.

I think you can get away with another lab coat most of the time. You do have to wear the white lab coat all the time in lab, but some students wore ones without the emblem.

Hi Freckles27,

Sorry for the late reply but I will be attending PHIBSON in a couple of days. You definitely can apply for any of the programs without those 2 courses, they are taken along with nurse courses so there is not wait. Hope to see you next year:loveya:

Hey,

Is everyone attending both days of orientation? I will be attending tomorrow but not Wednesday, I don't want to take both days off work since I am saving days for studying, etc. Wednesday does not seem as important as tomorrow. Well hopefully I'll meet everyone tomorrow.
