Philippine Nurse would like to apply for Indiana Board of Nursing. Pls HELP!

World Registration

Published

Hi all fellow nurses,

I am new here. I am sorry if I posted in the wrong tab forum. I have only 2 questions and I hope you guys could help me.

To give you some background, I am a registered nurse here in Philippines. Graduated in 2003 and took my local board in June of the same year and passed. A year after I applied for CGFNS and passed and able to got my CGFNS certificate. I applied for Visa Screen expired and IELTS and both of it are expired.

Here are my questions:

1. I applied for NY BON last 2007 got my eligibility in 2008 but unable to register for exam because I was already in middle east when I got it. So I was not able to register in NCSBN until now and no ATT. My question is...Is my eligibility still valid since I didn't register for an exam?

I am now here in Philippines planning to take an NCLEX-RN soon.

2. If NY BON eligibility is not valid anymore (because I was just thinking not bad to continue for NYBON and apply for endorsement later if I passed just to save money though) I will apply for the Indiana Board of Nursing because that is where I will be staying in the future where my husband is living. So I will use the opportunity taking exams while I a here.

Does anyone here from Philippines who already took NCLEX RN for Indiana BON? What are the step by step process? I already read their website and tried to fill up the form till I saw that a SSN is needed for application. How to secure a SSN if I am still here in the Philippines? Is it really required? Please help! Your response would greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Per Pearson site:

Scheduling

Once you have been made eligible and received your ATT, you may schedule your examination using the following options. You must test within the validity dates of your ATT. These validity dates cannot be extended for any reason. Appointments may be made up to one business day in advance.

This is Indiana's BON website: http://www.in.gov/pla/2493.htm.

This is the examination and application instructions for foreign grads: http://www.in.gov/pla/2505.htm.

If you have any questions, call the Boards.

Good luck

US SSN can not be applied for unless you have a valid work or immigrant visa
