PHCC Fall 2010 (LPN/BRIDGE/RN)

Published

Hi all :)

I decided to start a new thread since the last one has something like 275 comments. It's a tad overwhelming!

Any questions, concerns, comments, etc regarding Pasco-Hernando Community College's programs? This is your thread:nurse:

We have decided on a meeting time and place. Here are the details:

When: Saturday evening, July 17, 7pm til whenever.

Where: Brass Tap in Wiregrass

Why: Faces to usernames :) lol--Seriously, won't it be great to meet the people who have been stressing out with us for the past several months?

If you have questions about the plan, feel free to pm me :) Also, if anyone has any brilliant ideas on how to recognize one another, feel free to share!

Jenn

RN-to-be...

MJ...it all depends on who your provider is, if there is an office visit copay, and if the vaccine/titer is "deductible waived." My general physician wanted a heck of a lot more money and would have charged me my $30 copay (which was essentially the price of the titer!). Instead of calling and verifying all of those things with my insurance, I just went to the health dept. and was in and out. They use LabCorp and give you the easily read results within 2 days. Same with the TB test. You just have to come back within 48-72 hours to have it read. My tetorifice was out of date too, but that was only another $20-something. But, if your insurance will cover those items with no deductible or copay...go for it.

oh man, i wouldn't even know. either way, i can't get off of work to go to the health department, so i got the lab tech at my job to draw the titers today. let's hope i'm still immune!

on another note: who still needs to do their cpr class???

i do and i can only do weekends. if anyone else is in the same boat and they don't want to travel, save a life cpr will come to us and they will give a discounted group rate. individual price is $55 (and they will still come to you). i was just thinking that this may be a good idea if they could come to wesley chapel and we could get a discount. i'm not sure how much it would be, but i'm also not interested in driving forever away on my day off. any takers?

Oh, yeah. I called Oak Hill Hospital and they are not doing sponsorships for this Fall :( Neither is Spring Hill or Brooksville.

I am taking the CPR course behind/at Oak Hill hospital at 6 o'clock pm next Thursday( Titers at Health dept on Tuesday..not Thursday as I mentioned before- like it matters:)) I work 9-5 during the week as well and can not take any time off at all right now so was really relieved they are doing it a 6pm. Otherwise, I would be in the same boat.

I don't know your work hours throughout the week, but if you're 9-5 this could be an option. $20 fee

But, Im thinking -from earlier posts- you might be a drive away from Oak Hill?? Maybe they do later classes??

Where do I sign up for the class? That would actually work for me because I work in Spring Hill!

Ive got to track it down, give me a bit.:) I will find out

Hey Amanda, I am on the phone with OHH as we speak lol and they say they don't have a class on the 7/22...

My DH :uhoh3:..set it up for me two weeks ago- CPR BLS-, so I will definately be following up to see what he really did..given this is the only thing I have asked him to set up for me...lol BUT, I did get a confirmation call last week for the 22nd from someone affiliated. I was at work so did not and have not personally spoken to said person. As soon as I get home, I will be investigating and will post outcome this evening.

Good thing this came up on here! :)

Yay!! I'm glad we are meeting up this Saturday!:clpty: Time to officially celebrate all the hard work we've all accomplished this year!!!!!

The old thread wasn't updating my email either so thanks Jenn for starting this one up! :)

I have my physical this coming Tuesday. I'm a procastinator only because of money and Microbiology didn't help! So who's coming?? If anyone wants my cell #, I'll pm it to you. That way if anyone is running late someone can contact one of us.

FYI guys...Pasco health Dept. with clinic locations charges $33 for MMR titers and are back WITHIN 48 HOURS. Varicella titers are $22.78 and TB Skin Tests are $20. Physicals are $63 (WAYYYY to much) so go to any "Doctor's Walk-in" where they are $20. They only take cash and I'd recommend going in the mornings when they aren't busy. These prices may even be less than any deductible or copay if you have insurance.

Thanks for that info! It makes me feel a little better. Which Doctor's walk-in did you go to? Sorry if you answered this already. I'll go read the posts to see if the info is there.

Kay, so hubby gave me wrong date ... 26th , I left a voicemail w/ affiliate but I guess they don't answer calls after 5. # is 352 597 8875; it's a real riggamarole to find online.... Like my word? :)
