PHCC Fall 2014 hopefuls!

I want to meet some of you! I'm just getting ready to take my last 3 finals, have been studying for the TEAS for months now, and will be able to apply for next fall's nursing program (YAYAY!) I'd love to hear from some potential future classmates, how you are doing/ did with pre-reqs/ TEAS, and share the excitement upon acceptances!

I wonder if they'll be out in the mail by tomorrow and maybe we'll have them by Saturday? Wishful thinking....

For me, I always get mail from PHSC two days later so if they send it tomorrow I don't think we'll get it until Monday. But maybe they sent them today. Who knows. I just want to know what my date is already because the more time that passes, the more I feel like I'm not getting in!

What are everyone's favorite beaches around here?

Also, (completely different topic, I know) do any of you know PHSC's policy on recording lectures? Nuscha--were you able to do this? And on kind of the same note, is there any particular laptop required for the program? I know other programs I was looking at (and ones my friends are in) require that they purchase a laptop from the school...some even require an iPad. Anything like this? I need to get another laptop separate from my work one so as to stay in compliance with HIPAA and I don't want to buy one to find out we need a different one!

Just spoke with Connie in admissions at west campus and the committee met already but she was vague as to when the letters will go out. She said within next two weeks, but I think we will def get them by next week. I'll be in New York on vacation but she said we have until July 10th to accept the seat. Had me nervous there for a minute but thankfully I get back July 5th and will be able to accept my seat on July 7th. (Positive thinking there) good luck to you all and I'll keep you in my prayers!

Is there anyone going to check your mail for you while you're gone?

I LOVE siesta keys in Sarasota. A bit of a drive, about an hr and a half, but worth it. Gorgeous powder white fine sand that stays cool and crystal clear water. Mostly, I go to clearwater but it's just okay.

As far as I know, they don't require a specific laptop and you are allowed to record lectures but I'm not 100% on that.

Loved Siesta Keys too! Beautiful and peaceful cos it isn't so crowded so you could have a little picnic on the beach.

My husband and I actually witnessed a beach wedding and it was beautiful!

Caladesi Island is also pretty nice! Children-friendly too...you'd have to pay to enter the island though but the scenery is beautiful!

There is no special requirements as to laptop or ipad. Nothing to be done online during the lecture hours or clinical hours. As long as you can get on canvas at home, take your online tests and submit results, you'll be fine. For the lecture you either can print the powerpoint and make notes during the lecture or bring a laptop or ipad to the class and type your notes directly. I have not seen anybody recording the lecture, you'll realize it's not necessary.

I'm fine, just came back from a microbiology test & have to get ready to go north campus for ethics!

Hope you're having a nice day too, I know everybody is anxious here, I'm sure you'll get your letter next week and we can have our coffee...lol....I'm thinking you need to add the cake to that coffee to celebrate!

Oh boy, I don't know how I would learn without recording lectures...I'm primarily an aural/visual learner, so it's a must for me! And once again thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! Who is your prof for Ethics!? I'm taking that right now, too!!

I called regarding my canvas password, which I was locked out of, and after that was solved I asked if she knew about our letters. She transferred me to admissions and I was told by someone to expect it around July 10th. I told her the letter I received when I got confirmation of my application that it said I would receive by the end on June. She became frustrated and transferred me to Connie who was an angel. Alright guys, this is where ya'll are about to flip!!! Connie, and few others, mail the letters for all the programs. She says the committee did met yesterday and she has already started to mail letters! Some went out yesterday and some went out today. Since they are closed tomorrow the rest will finish going out Monday!!!!! Yeeyyy.

*high five* GREAT investigative work!!!!! This is soooo exciting! I hope that we were all in the first batch that got sent out yesterday or today because then we'll get letters tomorrow or Saturday!! :D
