PHCC Fall 2014 hopefuls!

U.S.A. Florida

I want to meet some of you! I'm just getting ready to take my last 3 finals, have been studying for the TEAS for months now, and will be able to apply for next fall's nursing program (YAYAY!) I'd love to hear from some potential future classmates, how you are doing/ did with pre-reqs/ TEAS, and share the excitement upon acceptances!

Just have to register for the CPR course and I'm done. Yay! I would like to know the cost of the program. The packet makes it seem that tuition is due the day of orientation but dues have to be paid by 8/12. Just an FYI.

Hey guys! What was the lowest gpa and teas score accepted??? Thank you:) I thought I could apply for fall but they did not accept my comp class. I am in micro apps now. I will have a 3.5 GPA and currently 70 on TEas but I am taking it again. What do you guys think my chances are?

If that is your PRE-REQ GPA I think it is safe to say you are perfectly ok without even retaking your TEAS! If you are in county and that is your pre-req GPA you are sitting at a score of 91.4, which is well above what many of us got in with this time around - and previous years for that matter. By all means feel free to take it again, but unless you are out of county, I wouldn't even stress. Finish your comp and you should be golden!

yes! Thank you so much for replying! You are talking about the rn not lpn correct? I am in county:)

I am really not wanting to retake the teas again. I need a break lol I have 3 little ones two of which starting vpk and kindergarten this year. I'm hoping to finish this class and get my house in order lol I have my kids from 6-8pm and work 9pm to 2am. Needless to say I am ready for school to start. If you are sure that is my combined score and it's good enough you will have just brought music to my ears!!!!!

GOOD NEWS and BAD NEWS!

GOOD: Yes, RN program. Just for reference. A couple scores in this semester (Fall is tougher) were 81.2, mine was 83.3, another 84.5 and another 86.5!! Again, that's if that 3.5 GPA is NOT your overall GPA, it's your pre-req GPA. Double check with an adviser that you have your ducks in a row. Here's how your score is figured:

(AND IT IS ALSO THE BAD NEWS - I am sorry, I miscalculated your score!!! I AM SO Sorry!!!!)

Pre-req GPA/4 x 45% (yours is 3.5/4 x .45 = .3938) +

TEAS x 50% (yours is .70 x .5 = .35) +

In county .05 =

SCORE: 79.4%

Where this score is manageable, it may be a good idea to take that TEAS again, just in case it's not quite high enough! I'm sorry to poke that bubble I so gently made for you (notice I did NOT pop it... it's still there, just put some more air in it, just in case) ;)

You've got this! You really do....

Haha thanks:) I will take it again. What do you think would def get me in? TEAS 5 is alot worse then TEAS 4.

The TEAS is much more difficult than the previous version. A good study tip that I used was youtube. Watch videos of people describing what was on the test then watch videos on the subjects you are rusty on a long with the teas studyguide. I did this and got an 85. The toughest section in my opinion was the science portion. I had a lot of physical science and earth science questions. Only had a few anatomy questions. Oh and take the online teas practice test too and study up on sections that you do poorly on.

And I had a total gpa of 3.6 but had a 4.0 on my prerequisites with an 85 TEAS.

Do u know what the lowest accepted GPA and TEAS test? Thank you for the advice;)

It's tough, because the pool of applicants is always varied... But if you can score an 80 on the TEAS you will be at 84.4%, which seems almost a guarantee from all the previous threads I've read and compared to our class. A few positives for you:

The Spring is easier to get into

I got in with a lower GPA but an 86% on TEAS, so focus on your TEAS.

They say the average 2nd time at the TEAS is 10 pts higher.

Do what mlaird1986 said, get the study guide and even the practice test online. Go over science like MAD! Chemical equations included. Watch videos and relax. Although expensive, you can take 3 times a year, but no closer than 30 days apart. So time your test so that you have another shot before applying in case you need "one more try".

Don't count out the LPN program then transition to the RN for 2 semesters. You will graduate the same time as the generic RN track class, just a different (and maybe harder) route. Their entrance is based only on TEAS.

Finally - MAKE SURE YOU TURN IN YOUR HIGHEST SCORE!! Some applied this year and made the oops of turning in the wrong/lower test results. School won't accept a 'update' to your application.

Hope this helps!

I wish that were easy to tell you... It just doesn't go that way. It's all about the total score. They don't care about GPA or TEAS on their own, per se on the RN Generic. They care about your overall score. For instance one girl that got in only had a 3.15 GPA but she had a 92.7% on TEAS.

Another 'for instance' is one had a 3.6 with a 78% for a total score of 84.5% but mine was 3.23 GPA and a TEAS of 86% for score of 84.34%. We have almost the same total score, but completely different scores on both. It really comes down to your total. Since you can't change the .394 for your GPA and you get the .05 for the residence. Focus on the TEAS to get enough to get your total up to match the total score 82-85 range. That means a TEAS of at least about 75-80. Of course, the higher the better. If you go back on this thread several pages to when we got our acceptance letter you will be able to see the scores of everyone that got in.
