pharmacology-should I?

Published

Hi everyone,:welcome:

I am taking a refresher math class this summer semester, and I am wondering if it's easy enough to take a pharmacology class along with it? I dont know how hard this class is, does anyone have advise? I am already having problems with math, I dont know if it's similar in some ways? Formulas, or what not???

Someone please help:idea:

I can tell you that here a lot of the nursin students do not do well in pharm classes so you may want to hold off if you can. Not to discourage you but just being honest. I have been advised to take Calculations and dosages before I take Pharm(even though we do not have to) to help out. So I am taking that in the summer and hoping I start nursing in the fall. Good luck to you!

I am taking Pharmacology this summer, but I am not brave enough to take anything else with it. I have heard so many rumers about that class. I think now that taking it by itself I will be ok. You might can do it though.

Yeah , your probably right....It might be to much, since I dont really know what to expect from that class(pharm)...... I was typing to this other girl that posted to another thread and she is taking a&p, pharm, phys, and intro to nursing all this summer. I dont think iam That much of a SUPERWOMAN, lol...BUt more power to her if she can keep up. Poor me, i can only keep up with one class????:crying2:

Specializes in Neuro.

I don't think it matters if the math class is easy enough to take with pharm... it's if pharm is easy enough to take with anything else. And the answer is... not really. I took it last quarter with microbiology and spent literally hours every single day studying for pharm. I did really well, and enjoyed the class, but I worked my butt off too. My micro stuff really slacked off because I put pharm at a higher priority. I wish I had had the time to take them separately.

There are some out there who can take a full load, work full time, keep up a house and family and still make the grade. I know of one, but those kinds are far and few between.

I know without a doubt I could NOT even take a full load of classes and make that kind of grade not working.

I think you will be ok with Pharm if you take it by itself. We can do it.

That would be tough. I would not take Pharmacology with A&P, Micro, or Nutrition. I think I will take Nutrition and A&P 2 next fall. That will be a tough semester, and then Micro will be the only class I have to take next Spring.

Personally, its hard for me to take these classes all at once since I also work full time. But if I was in school full time, I think its ok to take those classes together. So it all depends on the individual. You have to do what you have to do or can do. So its okay not to take those classes together if you feel that you wont be able to do well. I took one class a semester cause I wanted to do well and couldnt handle more than one class!
