Will I be at a great disadvantage if I take pharmacology and pathophysiology before A&P and microbiology in terms of doing well in those two classes?

Generally, professors have the assumption that their students have already taken a year of anatomy and physiology prior to taking pathophysiology. It would be like taking Organic Chemistry before taking General Chemistry. Each professor is different. We reviewed the physiology of the system we were studying, but primarily focused more on the disease processes. The review was not in-depth. However, you professor could spend more time on the physiology section than mine. Who is to say.
I don’t know if you would be at a disadvantage or not. Some students can take courses without foundation courses and do well. It depends on the student. As far as Pharm…you can take that whenever. You will memorize drugs by their classification, side effects, and the nursing assessment and interventions associated with the drugs. There, I don’t think, is a need to take microbiology prior to pharm.
Good luck!

Currently Im taking pharmacology and physiology now, along with anatomy II w/ lab. I think it will be better to knock out anatomy first because you can understand the body more and alll that goes on.

I always advise others : Pharm anytime, Anatomy, then Physio OR Micro then Pathophysio. If you like building on what you've learned before then this is what I would have done.
