i was wondering how they present pharmacology on the nclex. do they use the generic, trade name or both?? my teacher said they were switching this year to just the generic names but then i took a nclex review course and they said they always say that. i would just like to know the real deal from those of you that have already done it. thanks!

Great question and I am so sorry, but I dont remember. I know I had two pharm questions I can clearly remember, one was Viagra and the other Morphine. So I am thinking they use pretty common drugs.

I was worried about pharm on my NClex as that was one subject I just was never good at. but then I realized I am not going to have 75 pharm questions, someone told me once they give maybe up top 10% pharm. So my thought was forget trying to learn all the pharm stuff, if I miss a few OK I have 70 other chances to redeem myself!!!

Thanks be to the Nclex gods, I had very little pharm on my Nclex, at least 2 and maybe they snuck a 3rd in on me that I am not remembering.

I did have a Springhouse drug book that had a disk in the back with Nclex style of questions, I did do it a few times, dont know if it helped me or not.

PS I missed the Viagra question---you can only take it once a day!!! My bad.

I was taught that we would see both generic and trade names of the drugs on the test. Is this not true?

based on my experinced i have one question that they only give the brand. and the other question it has a brand and generic
