Anyone in their nursing program? Did you like it? Did you get in on your first try? How many spots do they have per year? I'm just really excited I finally decided to do their program. I heard it's really good. I thought about doing UMB but its expensive and I just really want to work. I'm going to be taking the Nur 101 class and petitioning next spring for the fall of 09. TIA

I got in the first time I petitioned. I had to take a medical deferment as I was due to have my daughter 3 weeks into the semester. I will attend my first semester of nursing in January and am so freaking excited. I plan on getting my BSN from Villa Julie, and so I doubled up on classes and took summer classes to fulfill reqs for their BSN. They accept PGCC classes for their BSN program.

They have 60 spots per semester and do both fall and spring starts. There are no summer classes as part of the RN program but there is one LPN class that they offer over the summer as part of the bridge program I believe.

As far as how hard it is to get in......they don't publish the top scores or GPA- they say the limit is 3.0 but I think it's far more competitive than that. They base the GPA on 6 classes; A&P 1 and 2, Math 134,

Egl 101, Psy 101, and Nur 101. I had a 3.5 in those classes and a 3.7 over all, as well as all the other co-reqs. I believe that having the co-reqs completed was a boost to my consideration as I think that 3.5 was probably on the low end of the pool of people competing for spots.

I would def go see a counselor for more information. I do know that hundreds of people apply every semester, and the pool of people changes each semester too. Good Luck!

I have a 3.1 in my six classes do I even stand a chance in getting accepted into the program.....

Petition. You never know, you could get in. You won't if you don't give it a shot.

If you have any C's you might reconsider retaking a class to improve your GPA. I've heard a few people have done it and it helped them get in. If it's what you want, just do it. It's free to apply, there's no application cost.

HTH!

I'm a recent grad, and I loved it! Great instructors, good clinical sites. They really want you to succeed, there are open labs, the instructors are very available during office hours and sometimes will offer review sessions. There are a lot of resources available. After graduation the school gives you $100 towards a review course. The NCLEX pass rate is in the high 90s.

As far as getting in to the program, it's pretty competitive and based solely on your grades. Most of the people I know had at least a 3.5. But that's not saying people with lower GPAs don't get in. I would give it a try, and if you don't get accepted then consider retaking one of the prereqs that you didn't do so well in. Good luck!

I graduated spring 07. My set was the first based on gpa, before that it was lottery. What they did was put all applicants in a list and pick the first 60. I know they sometimes take upto seventy based on those who fail a class.

Altogetherthe program is a great one.Great instructors and clinicals. If u really dowell in ur clinicals,u can get a job before u graduate because some of the instructors working the hospitals and they put in a good word for u.

Also they provide NCLEX review at discount prices.
