Yes. Some things are considered Gen Eds at the community college I attend now that are not listed as Gen Eds at the University I plan to attend. My advisor said that if I take those classes I just have to petition to have them approved. She didn't make it seem like it was a big deal. Like it happens all the time.
Just take the chemistry class. Or apply to another school that will accept yours. Not all credits are will transfer and that is just the way it is. The school can make any decisions they want. You are the one that has to fit their requirements.
Yeah well, if it gets approved great, if not, then I'll do it. I can't just "take a chemistry class" like I have all the time/money in the world.
I had to petition a math class. I had to send the course description from my first school to the second school. But I also had to accept the fact the answer might of been no. There are lots of chem classes out there. They want you to take a specific one.
Yes, and I'm accepting that fact too. The difference is after I find out if the answer is no, then I will have the time in my schedule to take the second chemistry. They did say it would count for the General Chem 1 but the petition is to find out if everything else is good for the General Chem 2. I would just have to apply for the spring class.
Well I found one more thing that may or may not be relevent to the acceptance process.
"ELNA stands for elective credit non-advanced. ELADV stands for elective credit advanced. An elective designation indicates that the course is transferrable, but it does not offer an exact equivalent course. ELNA courses may be used for any general lower-division elective which is not course or discipline specific; ELADV may be used for similar upper-division requirements. Some ELNA or ELADV courses may fulfill core curriculum requirements. Other ELNA or ELADV courses may meet major or minor requirements."
All of my classes are ELADV.
Kind of. While on medical LOA in college, I took a child psychology class at another school. I wanted it to count for one of my social science core requirements. Turns out, the Psychology department at my school didn't offer core credit for "Child Psychology" but the school of education had a similar course for which they offered core credit. So I had to have the Dean of the School of Ed sign some form. It took about 10 minutes- I sent him an email with the link to the course description, he responded and said "yes I think this should count" and then I brought him some form to sign.

Has anyone here had to submit a petition for one of your course prereqs to be approved?
The school I want to apply to for Fall 2015 says they are going to have to petition 2 classes I've already taken. They said they can't guarentee that they will be approved or not. If they deny it then I will try to apply for spring 2016 and retake those 2 courses.
