Petition CNA or LVN Boards

I heard today that I can petition the LVN or CNA boards. Have any of you ever done this or heard about this, and does anyone know how to do it? I just want to do it for the time being until I retake my RN boards.

Depending on the program where you attended your RN program, you may eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN exam, but the RN only when it is time for you to take it agan.

In your title, you asked about the CNA exam, but in your writing you are asking about the RN exam................

My mistake entirely! I already know that I cannot petition the RN Boards. I was asking about the LVN or CNA boards, so that I gan work part time getting experience in nursing and earning money while I am studying for the RN boards. I will revise my question. I ment to write LVN or CNA, NOT LVN or RN.

I had a girl in my class who did not have enough points on the final to pass the last semester of nursing school. Even with our preceptorship the last month (120 hours of clinical) she did not have enough clinical hours to petition the LVN boards. LVNs apparently require more clinical time than RNs do if you can believe that. We called the BON, wrote a letter, consulted with our school advisors, etc but to no avail.

Call the LVN Board in your state and ask them about it, you will get an idea of how the process works.
