Perineal anxiety

I don't mind giving bed baths, wound care, dressing,etc at all.. But when it comes to male perineal care, I hestitate. And I dont mean just washing around the member, its the pulling back of the foreskin and cleaning I can't allways do.:imbar Any one know to overcome this anxiety?

Ugh nothing that I perfer doing male caths, but I hate the often tidious search for the lusive female meatus. I feel like a damn miner hunting it down sometimes.

I worked as a cna on a gero psych unit and a male nurse had to insert a foley in a female pt. We always worked together for security (both pt and rn). I had 2 additional kits on standby so I wouldn't have to run and get more if he couldn't get it placed correctly. I held a flashlight and neither one of us could figure out where the correct place was. Not only did he go through the 2 additional kits, I had to run out and get another one! It was scarry, very scarry. I must say that he is not a bad nurse, but sometimes a womans anatomy does not resemble anything like the text books. :p

it's helpful when you leave the catheter in the wrong orifice...

that way, you can't miss the next time.
