Hi there -
I'm looking at per diem positions - hourly rates, no benefits, no guaranteed hours, hired directly by the health system rather than through an agency. These are the rates I've seen, wondering if others have more info:
Anyone know about:
Has anyone even picked up a PRN position lately? Seems like everyone who wants short-term or non-full-time employment is working as a traveler for the big $$$ these days.

banner per diem (banner staffing services AKA BSS) is between 38-46 an hour.
38hr for med surg only at 1 facility, add another $3hr if you choose at least 3 facilities to float to.
any specialties you get another $5/hr. ER, tele, ICU, dialysis, PACU, ENDO, etc etc. The same $3hr extra if you choose to float to at least 3 facilities still applies.
The highest paying is St Joes (dignity health) which their flat rate is 55.14. Need 2 years tele experience at minimum, and neuro exp is highly recommended.
They both offer night differentials of 17-18%, banner weekend diff is 4/hr, st joes is 10% weekend diff.
Besides pay the other big difference is banner is way more flexible, they only require 4 shifts a month, no weekend required and no holiday required. You can do all 4 shifts in a week and be done for the month. Call offs (as long as they are not late call offs) do not count against you as long as you still make 4 shifts per month.
St Joes CCO (registry per diem) is a lot like a full time position. 3 shifts every 2 weeks, 1 weekend per schedule required, as are holiday requirements. They also keep track of call offs as if you were a full time employee and will write you up for them if you have too many.
Lastly, St Joes has a very sick and underserved patient population and it's not easy. You definitely earn your money there.

Check out agency nursing. I'm currently supplementing through Medely.
