People who say they died and were brought back to life

Published

I guess this is two questions, in a way.

I hear people, most recently, a man on the news, say they were "dead" and brought back. The person on the news said they were "medically dead" and brought back. If someone has a cardiac or respiratory arrest they think/say they died.

Do you consider a cardiac or respiratory arrest being dead? Being resuscitated as being "brought back to life?"

I don't. Unless you are not breathing/heart not beating/brain dead-you are alive. you may suffer a cardiac arrest-but i don't consider that as dying.

What about you?

My take on religion is all of them have at least "part if it right" and perhaps, a lot wrong.

Mine is a spiritual path, not a religious one.

Thanks for sharing, Deb! Wow. I don't dismiss anyone's experience, for (as Shakespeare said) 'There is more in heaven and earth, Horatio, than is dreamt of in our philosophy'

I've read somewhere (probably on the Internet) that NDEs are cross-cultural, meaning that those from different and diverse cultures experience the same things, like the bright lights and loved ones coming to bring them somewhere.

Thanks for sharing your story, Smiling Blue. I think the reason lots of people have difficulty with spirituality is because of others trying to impose their view of God or spirituality onto others. It becomes an issue of whose religion is true and whose god is the real one...

It's because of fear. Fear of going to hell, fear of "not" saying something to someone who "looks like they are on their way" (will God reprimend me for not showing someone the error of their ways?). That is why they try to impose their view of God, and really, the only reason. I've never heard, "doing it this way will make you have more blessings." It's always a, "if you don't do this like that, you'll burn in hell." Seems kind of bold to say and assume, but that's what I think it is. Sometimes the topic of hell is so emphasised that people forget the whole message of love.

Are you talking about the story in Virginia? If so, I recall reading that this person was found without a pulse, so that would mean dead wouldn't it? (I know that sounds like a dumb question;) ). I remember in my BLS class they told us you can have a pulse and not be breathing but you can't be breathing if you don't have a pulse, so I just assume no pulse=death. (I haven't read all the other posts yet).

I remember reading about a person in my hometown that said they were "medically dead" and figured it was the same story.

What about those people who are found frozen and then are brought back? Like benny the dog lol!
