People that change their minds frequently about their career

I am someone who has constantly changed my mind concerning what I want to do with the rest of my life. I was fascinated during dissection week in biology class. I became a medical assistant and worked as such for a little less than one year. I earnestly want a career in healthcare. I am going to get my CNA license and work or volunteer as such one or two days a week while I finish up my nursing pre-reqs and bachelors degree in Philosophy or English. I'm great at making plans, but not so great at following them.

I'm super excited and happy that after years of thinking and going back and forth I've come to a decision as final as final gets for me to pursue the profession of Nursing.

I just hope I don't change my mind again. Anyone ever go through this?

The good thing with nursing is that you can change your mind a million times; there are so many areas available: forensics, trauma, hospice, community health, doctor's offices, school nursing, psych, travel nursing, insurance companies, case management, teaching...you name it. They all have different experience and educational requirements, but there is ample room for variety.

Best of luck to you! :specs:

Now thats what I'm talking about; thank you.

It is very common to change majors throughout college. Heck, I've changed my mind many, many times throughout my life about what I wanted to do. I'm 38 and I just realized a little over a year ago that I wanted to be a nurse. I graduated highschool in 1991 and wanted to be a marine biologist. I decided to sit out a year before attending college...well, during that year I met my future husband, ended up getting married and having 4 children. So then I started decorating cakes. I was a decorator for 9 years then started thinking of college again. I knew I wanted to make a difference in other's lives so I thought I'd go to school for social work. The more I thought about it I decided to do nursing. That way I get to make a difference, help others, and be around the biology part of it all that I've always loved. I'm in my second year of being a full-time college student going for my BSN and I LOVE it! I did everything backwards, lol...most people get a education and a career THEN a family...I got my family first then a career ;) I'll be 42 years old when I graduate :) Good luck to you in whatever road life takes you down!
