Pell Grant/ financial aid

Does financial aid cover BSN or does it only cover 2 year programs, after I get my ADN I want to go on for BSN but if it's not covered then that won't be a possibility until I have worked as a RN for a little while.

With an ADN you are still an undergrad so the ADN doesn't disqualify you from continuing to receive Pell grants, but having any prior bachelor's will.

So if the BSN would be your first bachelor's, you should still be eligible as long as the other criteria is met.

I got into my RN-BSN program right after I graduated and I applied for financial aid. I didn't get the Pell Grant but I got the loan which was helpful.

Federal aid will cover degree programs which are higher than the previously completed degree (provided you haven't exhausted funding). Since the BSN is a higher degree than the ASN you should still qualify for federal funding / pell grants. Your financial aid office should be able to explain the details of how this works, and what you need to do in order to receive aid for both programs.

Yes it covers the BSN as long as it's your first BSN. However, there is a lifetime cap on the Pell, so it depends on how much aid you received for the AA degree. For the most part, however, it should cover most of your BSN. Have you thought about asking at work? Some hospitals will help pay for your education if you agree to work there for a fixed period once you graduate.
