Pediatric ER Nurse

Published

Hello everyone,

I’m in a slight panic. I just received a phone call from a Nursing recruiter about a Pediatric ER Residency program for Nemours. They’ve scheduled an interview in 5 days… 12/28!!

I was hoping to brush up on general Peds knowledge and Peds emergency for application type questions.

I don’t think I have much time to prepare.

Any, and I MEAN ANY advice, tips, comments anything is appreciated!!

Background: I’ve been an LPN for 5 years and just graduated with my ADN couple of weeks ago. I’ll be taking my NCLEX next month.

It's a training program based in a peds ER. It's a teaching hospital. They're assuming you don't know how to be a peds ER nurse. My tip? Don't waste any time brushing up on anything. Be enthusiastic about learning, becoming part of their team, making a commitment to staying on for several years, always improving and staying current in your practice through self directed and required continuing education, express willingness to aquire sub-specialty certifications, etc. Acknowledge your lack of experience in the field but express humility and the intention to work hard and learn. You'll get the job.
