Pearson Vue/ how many test dates can you schedule ?

Published

I did my taxes last eve and was qualified for the lifelong learning deduction (so very happy, I normally owe every year)so I will be getting a check enough to cover my last four exams. I want to just purchase all the remaining exams and go ahead and schedule them so I'm more motivated to make the May FCCA deadline. My question is, am I allowed to schedule four exams at a time? Of course on different dates within the next 3 months. Or is there a limit to how many exams you can have scheduled ? Thanks in advance :)

I dont think there is a limit. I even know where some people have scheduled two exams in one day. So you should be able to pay for the remaining four exams with no problem and should receive an authorization to test for each.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

See #15 here: https://allnurses.com/excelsior-college-online/excelsior-college-distance-808335.html -- You can only register for four nursing theory exams at a time. So that's perfect for you! :)

That is very cool! Good luck with your 4 exams!! Fingers crossed for you that you will make the May deadline!! :)

I have a question about the lifelong learning deduction... I haven't even looked at taxes yet, but my 1098 from Excelsior is only for the enrollment fee of $1015. The 2 exams and practice tests I have already paid for are not included, per Excelsior. Is there a way to claim those fees? Thank you!

These are good things to bring up to your tax pro for sure. I know mine told me that I would be reimbursed for all of my books based on some new tax program this year. Congrats on getting that money. I scheduled all of my LS tests at the same time but didn't know there was a limit. Good luck.

I actually didn't use Excleior's 1098, I attended a local college and used that 1098...come to think of it Excelsior didn't send me a 1098?! I only took Transitions in the year 2012 though so I'm claim Excelsior on my 2013 return.

4 is the max you can schedule at one time.

Thanks LunahRN and NursePooda for posting the info; I was going to go ahead and pay for the rest of my exams while I had the money, but I have 5 left to do.

tnmarie: how do you qualify for the book reimbursment? Do you have to earn below a certain income?

I don't think so. I just mentioned to my tax guy that I was going back to school and he told me to keep my receipts for my books because they would be 100% reimbursable d/t some special program this year. I'll post more detail when I file my taxes (which will be this week, I hope).

I took 5 in a month...1 too many...burned out and got a D on the last one, had to retake...got an A. I was just fed up and wanted to finish it faster. So I think 4 is the max in a week but I'd say do three. :)

I did ask Excelsior about the 1098, since it was for the enrollment fee only... $1015. They said that exam fees do not qualify. But I will be looking into it and asking a tax pro, since I paid for 2 exams. I hope they also qualify!
