Pearson Trick NCLEX 2016: NOT ALWAYS ACCURATE

Published

Hello Nursing Students who haven't taken NCLEX yet, or are preparing to take it sooner or later:

As many of you have heard, there is a "trick" you can do on the Pearson Vue website that can give you an indication if you passed or not on the NCLEX, depending on what kind of "pop-up" you get. This trick can be done immediately after taking NCLEX to see if you apparently passed or not on the exam.

Apparently as the saying goes: if you got the "good" pop-up on the page after the credit card page saying you cannot register, it means you have passed. If you got the "bad" pop-up allowing you to proceed and submit the credit card payment, it supposedly means that you have failed.

THIS IS NOT ALWAYS TRUE NOR RELIABLE AND ACCURATE FOR THE BAD POP-UP.

I just wanted to share with you that as of August 2016, this trick is NOT always accurate based on my experience. My purpose of sharing this is to reassure those who got the "bad" pop-up, that please DO NOT rely on this trick as an indicator if you passed or not on boards.

I took my exam on August 2016, and got shut off at 141 questions. I felt good about my exam and had a feeling that I had passed. I went home and periodically did the trick on the Pearson Vue website and all those 7 times I did the trick, I NEVER got the good pop-up and it always proceeded me to the "submit" page after I've entered all the correct credit card information. No good pop-ups were showing up for me saying that I was already registered for the course or prevented the registration from proceeding.

I was so devastated thinking that I had failed, relying on that Pearson Vue trick to base my results. I spent two days crying and thinking I had failed boards and could not get my mind off of that possibility. I spent hours per day searching and looking up on websites to see if anyone in the past had ever gotten the bad pop-up but actually passed, just for my own reassurance. I ended up not finding anything about anyone getting the bad pop up but actually passing. I felt even more terrible and started thinking about remediation and retaking it in another two months.

Two days later I did quick results and found out that I had indeed PASSED!

I wanted to write this post just to reassure those who did the trick and got the "bad" pop-up, that even if you DID get the bad pop-up, it is NOT always 100% accurate nor should it be reliable in determining if you passed or not. It does not mean if you failed, and you should not base everything on this "trick.

Now, I cannot say the same about the good pop-up being accurate, but I have had friends who got the good pop-up and indeed passed. Chances are, if you got the good pop-up, you most likely passed. But if you got the BAD pop-up, it DOES NOT mean that you have failed!

So please do not rely on the trick and just wait the two days to find out for sure. Take your mind off of it while you wait for the officially and guaranteed results. I was so devastated that I did not get the good pop-up and was so relieved to find out that I had passed!

ps: I've did the trick 3 hours after my test and 40 hours later and still got the bad pop-up.

Best of luck to all who are taking boards in the future!

You didn't complete the trick, you have to hit submit and then you either get the good or bad pop up. You can also used a card that has no funds, no need to get charged $200.

In order for it to work you actually have to hit submit and risk it actually charging you or it telling you that you can't register again.

However, I know 2 people who have done that with cards that didn't have money on them, and it let them pay (it then told them they had insufficient funds) but when they got their quick results they actually passed.

I would definitely be careful doing "the trick"

I have taken my NCLEX-RN today and got the whole 265 questions. I tried to do the trick with the correct credit card number but wrong expiration date, and it gave me an error telling me to contact the credit card company. Does this mean that I got the 'fail' pop-up?

It means the QC check detected erroneous information. Pass or fail isn't determined instantaneously

You have to actually hit the submit button before you will get any pop-ups. I took the NCLEX 7 times before passing and I can say the PVT trick worked EVERY time. I knew exactly each time I failed and finally when I passed by getting the good pop-up.

I had submitted and got the error message..which I assume means they are trying to charge me again and I failed.

The message reads, The payment was declined. Reason: Contact your credit card company or use a different credit card. Doesn't this indicate a 'fail' pop-up?

I wouldn't rely on this trick. In my case it haven't worked - got "fail" pop-up, though I actually passed NCLEX... maybe it depends on the state

I've been reading up on this pvt ever since I walked out of my test at 12pm yesterday and it seems to be pretty accurate for the majority of people, although I'm sure no one would like to publicly admit that the received the 'fail' pop-up. I was just confused if 'payment declined' was considered this, but I believe it is. I'm of course hoping that isn't the case, but I have a gut feeling I'll be taking NCLEX again.

Yeah, I guess that means a bad "pop-up".

Though you better wait for the official results.
