Peace Corps Qualifications

Hello,

I will graduate next spring with an ADN. I have a BS in another field. My question is if I am eligible to apply for nursing positions in the Peace Corps Response sector. The positions I have looked at state they require a BSN but I am hopeful that my ADN will suffice because I have a BS in clinical physiology as well. Does anyone know of or have any experience in the peace corps response with these same circumstances? I am aware of the requirements, for I've looked at the website but I'm wondering if they make exceptions for RNs that have a non-nursing bachelors. I'm not interested in any other volunteer positions other than nursing. Thank you!

If the Peace Corps states BSN, they likely will only want BSN. Many people have a degree in something else and a BSN, the applicant pool will likely be very competitive and those with the BSN will rise to the top. Many times in an automated system it will ask for your nursing degree and if it is not a BSN the system would not let the application move to the next level. Call the local recruiter and ask for more specific information.

Peace Corps is a great experience. If you wanted you could possibly go the non nursing route as in that case, you would be quite qualified.

Does anyone know if there are any non-nursing positions available for LPN's in the Peace Corps? I want to do ANYTHING except nursing lol.

Peace Corps does have non-nursing . Do you have a college degree? You can speak with a recruiter and they could direct you to something in line with your degree. Many things are non-nursing.

Generally LPNs can't work overseas as a nurse since the qualification is not recognized. Most jobs require a four year degree but there are some jobs that accept experience education
