Hello All:

I am looking for some insight and info on apartments that are in and around BAMC. Areas that are considered a GO, those that are a NO GO...

Thank y'all in advance.

Very quiet, 3 pools, you can lease furnished or unfurnished, utilities included in the rent. Laundry room outside all buildings, lots of parking including sheltered parking. It seems like an old complex but they have a huge maintenance crew running around all the time. I know a captain that got an apartment furnished utilities included like 1200. Just 5 minutes from the gate, 10 minutes to the front door of the amedd building.

I live on the NW side. It's about a 30min commute, but I love where I live, so it's not a bother. The trend I've noticed is the further away from the Riverwalk you live, the more reasonable the rent. There are also some great townhouses off 410 near BAMC that are nice.

Is it just going to be you, do you have dependents? What department in SAMMC? I work in the ER.

Athena - I PM'd you.

Burn unit? Awesome! I went through BOLC with a burn nurse who somehow came in without her 8A identifier, and she is at BAMC. She wanted to work in the burn unit but was told that they usually avoid putting active duty RNs there because they want to avoid losing trained staff to deployments, so it's great that you'll get the opportunity. :-)

Some folks I know who have been stationed at BAMC lived in the Converse area and loved it.

Congrats on your new assignment!

My wife was injured in BOLC and is waiting here for the july 15 class. She asked to shadow someone in the hospital during the wait. They placed her in the burn unit, she has only positive things to say about the facility and staff. She loves going to work there.

Hi Lunah!

Yeah, well I have been home almost six months post deployment (wow how time flies.....) and I shouldn't be deployed again for 14 months (which has been my average, smile)

Thank you for the tip about the Converse area.

Hey, watch your six while you are deployed....

Yes ma'am! Now if they could just get my deployment orders correct, that would be great. LOLOL

Look into Schertz or Cibolo by Randolph AFB. Down the way from Converse but nicer & less crime then Converse & places around BAMC. Many ppl who live around here commute to SAMC.
