PBSC Spring 2015 Nursing

Published

I created this thread for those applying to Spring 2015 LW Nursing. I am a returning student starting a second career. I have 4 prerequisites left that I am taking this summer. I also am taking the Critical Thinking class for a point. I took the Hesi last week to see how I would do and got an 85. I will have about 27 points for my app so not sure if I will take Hesi again. Good luck everyone.

They said they were doing away with the Pharm 2140 because people kept failing it and had to retake it during the summer semesters. The pharm 1141 is the only one offered from now on. It is accepted for all of the nursing programs at palm beach state. however if you transfer to another nursing school they may require you to take a pharm class since it doesnt transfer well.

Specializes in ICU, neuro ICU.

Rhonda actually told me even the higher level pharm didn't transfer well to universities either. So it doesn't really matter after all.

Hey everyone,

I started a Facebook page for everyone that is applying in October to start in the spring at PBSC. It is easier for most of us to get on FB then log in and check here. If you would like to join the link is :https://www.facebook.com/pbscnursingspring2015. We can post whatever we want on there. Let me know if there is anything else I can put on there. I did it mostly so we can communicate throughout or application process and into the program.

i checked in. any change you could make it a 'group' instead of just a page? we can join a group and the posts would have a better chance of showing up on your feed. also, from what i can tell, all of the nursing groups have private pages leading me to believe that there may be some kind of 'gag order' on facebook pages by the administration.

I can do that but I am going to have to delete the page and start over. If you think it would be better I can.

Ok everyone,

I deleted the page so I am creating a group and you will have to request to join. I will post it as soon as it is up.

Here is the address to the new page: facebook.com/groups/pbscnursingspring2015. If you go to the page address and click on join group I can add you. Hope this will help everyone.

Is the access code for mynursing lab necessary for this class or something you have to buy but won't use?

Is anyone going to the info session tomorrow afternoon at the LW campus? I went to an info session in Summer 2012, when I first started at PBSC, but I am assuming there have been a few changes/updates since then. Plus, I seem to recall something about a requirement of attending an info session within a certain time frame - was it within a year of applying or within a year of starting? I plan on applying for Fall 2015, and I just want to make sure I don't have to attend another info session closer to that date.

The info session is good for one year. Since there was such a delay with the Fall applications due to point problems, hopefully there will new information regarding points.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback. I have already heard about the changes regarding ProCalc (now just 80% minimum math score on the HESI), and I also read today that volunteering no longer counts toward the healthcare experience point. I will be interested to hear what other updates there are.
