Hi everyone!! I probably am jumping the gun by posting this already but I'm too excited and just can't believe I'm finishing up my last semester of pre reqs for the program. I take my HESI on Feb 16th. Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself and see if anyone has also taken the hesi and what would be the best study guide to get. Here's to hoping for a great fall!!!
Hey! I studied the hesi book and this quick study sheet I bought from the book store. Study your bonds! There were a few pH questions. Hyper/hypotonic solutions. I think there was a question involving the amt of an element in a equation. Also know atomic mass, basics on protons, neutrons, electrons. That is what I can remember. Oh and thanks so much, I'm looking forward to getting that email:))
Hello! I am a hopeful for Fall 2012 as well. When I called the Nursing office, they said that taking NUR1024 (Critical Thinking in Nursing) will give you 1 point on the application, so that is helpful to know. That is exciting that the application will hopefully be out next week! Good luck to everyone. :)
When I went to the information session they said the points cut off last semester was 24.9 something and the average points on the applications was 26.7. Im stressing out but theres nothing more that I could do for this application. I missed the healthcare point cutoff date and I couldn't take the critical thinking for nursing class because when i went to sign up for it all the spots were all taken.. So depending on how I finish this semesters classes I am looking at 25.6-25.9 points on my app. So its going to be super close. But if I don't get in this time I will def get in next time as I will have the healthcare point and hopefully the critical thinking point.
Here are the points breakdown:
up to 29 credits - 1
30 or more - 2
bachelors - 3
masters - 4
anatomy 2 w/ lab - 3
micro w/ lab - 3
nutrition - 1
english comp - 1
humanities - 1
psychology - 1
critical thinking in nursing - 1
HESI scores
92-100 - 10
83-91 - 8
75-82 - 6
FL resident - 1
palm beach county resident - 1
GPA - 2.5-4.0 (points are equal to gpa)
Health experience (to get this point you had to start either volunteer hours or healthcare job by March 1st to qualify for the june first deadline) - 1
Hope this helps!
Thanks! I think I have a 26.5! Still need to take procalc though! I'm thinking that I will take pharmacology and critical thinking during the summer, just in case. Pharmacology just in case I get in. Critical thinking in case I don't. I am starting to drive myself insane and I haven't even applied lol! This is going to be a long couple of months!
Im studying for the hesi now. Im going to take it April 24. Im getting nervous about the sciences. I mainly been studying anatomy. If i get a B on the hesi ill get 25.5 points but I really want that 10 points for an A so I can get 27.5 instead. Any advice??? I have no other back up plan if I don't get in :uhoh21: lol
