your patients' coolest histories

Dang HIPAA that I can't tell you more, but I just found out that one of my patients tonight pitched in two World Series and WON one of them! In the past I've cared for a former Green Bay Packer old enough to have been drafted into WWII and a lady who was a nurse in London during the Blitz. Another memorable lady told us of her wild youth in Hollywood and dalliances with some pretty famous names, and her husband backed it all up.

What are some of your patients' coolest histories?

A lot of WW2 vets and other veteran soldiers.

One of our residents was a baker, and he was actually on Guinness world record for the biggest cake.

Another resident was a model.

When I did home health in CA, I had a man that won an academy award. He was at an assisted living center in the memory care locked unit.

I don't have any patients to brag about, but I saw this and wanted to share my super cool connection....

My pawpaw played ball for Green Bay when the NFL was the AFL (during WWII) and my mawmaw -his wife- was a nurse during that war! So many stories....

....They are both in their 80's now. I think my pawpaw is one of the last men standing from that generation of players. Pretty cool - his walls and bookcases are overgrown with memorabilia: jerseys, signed footballs, photos, reunion pieces, championship rings (Packers, Browns, Oilers), etc.

Love that man to pieces!!!

Specializes in Adult Cardiac ICU.

I have several cool histories that come to mind, but I'm not sure which are true and which were told by dementia patients..

I have confirmed, though, with my former patient's wife that he was once best friends with Jimi Hendrix!
