When you have an adult who has a genetic condition that causes them to be much shorter than average do you provide any special equipment? I am not talking 4'8' here I am talking about 3'2'. I can't believe this is the first time I am running into this. The person involved has assured us that they are totally used to living in a world when nothing is sized correctly for them. However, I want to make them comfortable without seeming to patronize them.

Providing a footstool---without comment---to make it easier to get in and out of bed would probably be much appreciated. :)

See if you can find some small gowns or pajama bottoms on peds that are not cutesy, adult gowns just don't work.

Ask them how they cope @ home, and what you can do to make the hospital more comfortable for them. Then write those things down for other personnel to see and follow.
