Patient complaint filed

Published

I have a question for all of you nurses out there, how do you handle an investigation of a complaint by a patient about you?? I had a complaint against me by a patient that was drug seeking, (noted in her previous records and multiple visits to ER), and the list for her goes on and on!! I am terrified of loosing my job due to this 'person'!! I have been an RN now for 7 years and have never had a patient complain about my care. :crying2:Right now I'm so upset and sickened I can't even think straight!! HELP!!!

I'm really sorry. What did they actually fire you for? Did you have any disciplinary action against you in the past? Did they put your dismissal in writing and give cause for the firing?

Oh my gosh how ridiculous!! i am so sorry. what a tremendous loss for your lame former employer. deurrrrrrrrr i wonder how many good nurses they will lose to bogus complaints.

ps stories like this make me (a nursing student) even MORE terrified about employment after graduation. ahhh! what a nurse un-friendly world we live in!

OP - Just wanted to tell u how sorry I am that u had to deal with that kind of insanity. Like I said, I have been in a similar situation, and it just really stings when u get hit with something like that.

Makes me wonder how many other people have gotten the same type of treatment from this employer, either due to that patient, or other in the past.

Good thoughts to u - Anne, RNC
