Passport without Signature: Allowed in Pearson Vue or not?

Published

hello everyone.

i'm slated to take my nclex on january in the pearson vue center in makati. i understand that the only acceptable means of identification is the passport. also, according to the 2008 nclex bulletin " all identification must be calid (not expired) with signature and photograph. all identification must be in english and signed in english".

my passport issued by the dfa does not have any space for signature. there's no line alloted for signature and the words "bearer's signature" under it. so my question is, will the pearson center honor my passport even if it has no signature? would you advise that i just place my signature there anyway? has anybody ever taken the exam using a passport without a signature?

thank you very much.

my friend told me that the signature is already embedded in the machine readable passport, is this true?

You need to be able to see your signature as the person in the test center will use that as a reference. I would say you need to sort out your passport before you go

I called DFA-passport center about my problem. the call center agents-they actually put me on hold for so many times & directed to different agents & finally told me that I have to renew the defective passport. they would just cancel it. they admitted the errors committed on the 1st released machine readable passport but they insisted that it is still valid. w/ regards to my immigrant visa stamped in it, according to them, even though the passport is cancelled already, the visa is still valid & I would just need to present the 2 passports in the POE. I still can't decide if i'm going to pursue her advice. I also have w/ me the visa packet (yellow envelope that says 'do not open') stapled in it the immigrant data summary w/c of course bears the passport number.

I forgot to tell my other option w/c is to apply for a state ID card. my friend told me that I only need SSN and I-551 stamped in the passport to get one.

Your visa will still be valid you just need to carry the old passport with the new one

You are welcome

Take a look at the inside of the back cover of your Philippine passport, there's a blank space there for you to sign in your signature. It says "Bearer's Signature".
