Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I just want to share my NCLEX story. First off, I failed the first time I took it. I was so devastated because I knew that I did study hard. I even enrolled Kaplan's online course. I also used Saunders the latest edition. The question stopped at 144. After 2 days, I bought the quick result, I failed.

After a month break, I decided to start reading again. This time I read Saunders cover to cover. How I did it? I am working full time so I really have to manage my time. I come home before 7pm. Read for 2 hours then sleep and then wake up 4am then go to work by 8am. That was my daily routine except weekends. I answered 75-150 questions a day, review and note the rationales.

I also used my previous kaplan notes, nclex 4000, PDA by LaCharity - YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS BOOK (I just borrowed the e-book version of this in the library. So if you have kind of having financial problems, I suggest to check your library first) and Lippincott's Alternate Format Questions - IF YOU'RE NOT DOING WELL WITH SATA, BUY THIS and the 35 study guide that I found here plus the 95-page that is being sold for $50 but someone here send it to me for free. Thanks to the gal anyway! ;)

So I really utilized my study materials. For me, it's not just about answering questions in preparing for NCLEX, you need to also study the content. I went to the test center really anxious . I took a deep breath and prayed. It was like every hour I took a 10 minute break. Guys, you DO need to take a break, trust me it will help you! I was already drained when I reached 200 but I didn't complain, I was thinking I was still in the game. So I answered it all - 265 questions in 5 hours. I didn't track how many SATA, computations or drag and drops I had, I was just so focused on answering it taking one question at a time.

I got home and prayed again. Read some posts here and stumbled a post about PVT. I know that you should try the PVT trick after 24 hours but I could not resist so I tried it after 6 hours I finished the test and I got a good pop-up! Tried it again after 24 hours, still the same! This time I was really keeping my hopes high! The next day, I purchased the quick result and there - I PASSED! I could not contain my joy, I took a screen shot of it and sent it to my family. I woke up my husband who was sleeping.Haha My efforts and sacrifice were paid off! :)

Bottom line - don't get so devastated if you answer the 265 qs. People still pass.

Note: The way I did my review may not work for you, so it would still be best to do it on your own pace and time.

Congratulations

congrats! But honestly, I really wish you hadn't posted that you did the PVT only six hours after finishing the exam.....you are telling people that you were willing to throw away $200, which is kinda strange, no? The reason people are told to wait 24 hours is because if the first scoring of your exam had you at a 'fail', it would have collected your $200 for another registration happily....and you would have been miserable, believing you had failed. But if your second scoring was a 'pass'....there you'd be, out a coupla hundred non-refundable bucks.

I'm glad you passed, truly, but for the love o' Mike stop telling people "it works" the way you did it....or we're bound to read yet another story from someone about how "it doesn't work because it took my money but I passed anyway!!!!"
