congrats! I take my NCLEX in about a week and I am so nervous. My study plan has been very similar to yours. Reading a saunders book and doing Kaplan QBANK. Did you end up fininishing all the questions in the Kaplan qbank? I'm trying to ration out how many questions to do a day but don't want to over stress myself out.

Saunders, I found, was a lot easier than NCLEX. Don't waste your time on it. Focus on Kaplan more. I did 100 questions per day 2 weeks before my exam, but not all in one sitting so I didn't get stressed out. Honestly you should be doing at least 100 questions or so a day so you can prepare yourself to stay focused in case your test goes past 75 questions.
I thought Kaplan was harder than NCLEX. my NCLEX was a breeze compared to Kaplan! And I was making scores from 60-80%. But don't let the scores determine if you will pass or not! First of all, Kaplan suggests you make 60% on your quizzes. Second of all, its not how well you answer them, but how you tackle the ones you got wrong. I always finished my quiz and sat down with a pen and paper and wrote down rationales if I didn't understand a question, or if I felt it would be important to remember later on. Saunders is too wordy. There's too much information, way more than what you need for NCLEX. Reading it won't help you retain or remember stuff, just because there's just too much in it. And there's a good chance the NCLEX will throw questions at you that weren't included in the Saunders book. Reviewing rationales for questions IS reviewing content.

I read several threads on this website trying to find the "best" way to prep for the NCLEX-RN and because what I read helped me pass the NCLEX in 75 questions on the first try, I thought I would contribute to the discussions. After reading so many people discussing the Kaplan QBANK and passing in 75 questions after using it, I figured it most be a good way to go and I'm here to say it definitely was! At first I was discouraged because I was getting anywhere from low 60s to (rarely) 80% on the quizzes, but I saw in the discussions that those are actually good scores and good indicators of passing the NCLEX. For three weeks before taking the NCLEX I read 2-5 chapters in the SAUNDER's review and did around 100 questions in the QBANK per day. I definitely recommend using Kaplan QBANK to develop a testing strategy and get you prepared for what the NCLEX will be like. Good luck to all future RNs!
