Im a Canadian RN, been working for 2 years, and I just wrote the NXCLEX yesterday. What a horrible exam and most of the questions were priority, some medication, and alot of teaching. Nothing what I expected.I used mosby's study guide, and the questions were nothing like the book. I was expecting more pathophysiology, more cardiac, resp and GI, but there was nothing. It was all teacing stuff and I thought those were harder because I was only able to narrow it too 2 answers most of the time. I left with no clue how I did and I thought I failed. The exam shut off at 75. I thought having some experience would help me, but for this exam it didnt. (I have 2 years in a large ICU). We had to drive 12 hrs to cross the border to write in Montana because that was the closest testing facility so failing is so not an option.
I checked the BON site and logged in and it said "passed", but no licence info yet, so im assuming I passed. Its still too soon to double check with Pearson Vue, but at least im pretty sure I passed. What a horrible experience and im glad I never have to do it again and that its out of the way. As with all of you this is a large obstacle to have overcome so congrats for those of you who have passed!

Congratulations for passing NCLEX. I understand how you feel; I still get pissed off when I think of that horrible exam. It is nothing like what they teach you in school or the resources used to study for it. In fact, I felt that I wasted my time. I did pass the first time, thank goodness, but I am almost at a point where I wish to tell people not to bother with too much material because most of it will be unrelated, anyway. Anyway, thank goodness you can move on past this monster.

I'm glad I am not the only one who feels like they wasted their time!! I could go through all my notes and the whole Saunders 3rd Ed and I would say only a tiny, tiny, tiny amount actually helped. I feel like I totally over-studied. Every question I had was hard, I have no clue if I passed or failed and I still have to wait another 3 weeks to find out. Cher1983, I had the same kind of questions as you and it is really hard to tell how I did. I got one math question and I checked that with a Dr at work so I know I got one right!! 1 out of 74 is a start!!

Well I can certainly agree. I took the NCLEX today and I stopped at 75. I had mostly select all that apply which really pisses me off because I can remember two side effects of a med but three or four? Give me a break that's why we have drug books! I studied my tail off and I still don't feel good about it--- guess I'll see.
