Hello,
I just got home from the CPNE in Schenectady, NY. I passed with no repeats. I am normally a person pretty confident at work, testing and with my skills for the most part. I was still very nervous going into this exam. I passed the labs friday night and that definitely set the tone for the remaining portions of the exam. I did get a 3yr old (the only peds pt in the hospital and she was leaving after I was done with her so I was the only person that got a peds pt) I'm not going to go into gory detail about the weekend. If you want/need tips, feel free to PM me.
Thank you sooo much for the emails before I left, they really meant a lot to me. The support here is great!! Anticoagulation nurse's notes were top notch!!
I have 3 general eds left. I was going to do these in my "wait time" because originally wasn't going to be testing until Nov but I got a cancel date so I just have a few more hurdles to go.
Thanks again!! And any CPNE'ers coming up feel free to email.
awesome!!:balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons:way to go!

i failed nursing iii at my local college by 1.6 pts this past may. i enrolled in excelsior in july and am up to concepts iii. i'd like to try to get thru by dec. (although, people have me panicked about how hard test iii and iv are). how long of a wait is there to take cpne in schenectedy? i want to try to find a test center the has the least waiting period. i'm a single mom and really screwed things up by failing, now i have to bang this out asap.
wow, congrats again!!!!
i used a combination of books. for nc1 i used the recommended texts and feel i wasted a lot of time reading duplicate info. i started with the free content guide for each exam. i used combinations of information. i used tcn for nc4 and nc6. i used lisarends cd's from ebay as a supplement (and for all of nc7) and used the nclex study guide. and for all the tests i used the excelsior practice exams....that was really what made the most difference.
first i would sign up for the test and schedule it 1 month away. i would take form a of the practice test to see how i did and then i would use the study guide and either lisa's notes or an nclex guide to fill in the blanks on the study guide that i didn't do well on the practice and read up on what i needed and then i would take form b of the practice test and see how i did. if i scored in the 70's on the form b then i would take the exam earlier than planned if i scored less that i would study my weak points. out of 9 ec exams i got 2 b's and the rest a's using these methods but i am already an lpn and i just graduated from the lpn program right before i started this so i did still have a lot of info in my mushy brain.
good luck with your studies. one thing i wish i had known about sooner was the epn board for people studying for the same exams. they can tell you what helped them too.
