Passed but it's bittersweet

We finished with our finals today. We had 41 students this semester for Med-Surg and about 21 students are left from the class, possibly less. You know you become a family going through the same stress and such, it sucks to see your friends not pass. Although I'm happy I did, I can't help but think about those who didn't. Just had to vent about it. I'm sure everyone here understands this.

Going to enjoy my break

I remember that feeling. It sucks but its also rewarding knowing that you passed. I had a good friend that didn't make it thru the 2nd semester. My heart ached for her but she just picked up the pieces and applied later and is now a nurse! It all works out in the long run. Just shows that you are a kind caring person when you feel that way.

Well, our last test before the final, and 32 out of 37 FAILED it. This seems to me that there is something very wrong with ths picture.

That means we lose 6 more people in the LAST week of the semester.

Nuts.

Congratulations to you! I am sorry your classmates couldn't pass with you.

We've lost about half too. I feel very badly for them, because they are family, but you musn't dwell on it too long. It will make you insane, freak out, and do worse yourself. You have to be strong for #1, and that's you! Congrats on passing! You can do it!!!

We lost a couple in the very first semester (one didnt even bother to try to finish), but after the second, we felt that we would all make it (naive'te, I guess). Finishing up our first year with Ortho/Neuro, and many of us were scraping the lower levels of passability (I'm a bit ashamed to say I'm one of those that crept through by the skin of my teeth -until now, I was a 'low "A" ' student) but one did not make it. A number of us felt the need to console this person, but what do you really say?

As for my part, I will just have to grab a bigger chunk of time and effort, and do better. I stressed myself out over the possibility that I may not pass -and usually am one of those who doesn't actually have to take the last test. This has been a sobering semester for quite a few of us. Just burned out and needing a vacation, I guess.

The girl that 'died' was a very nice person, and I hope she re-applies.

It certainly says something about the course......I mean, those people obviously were smart enough to get in.......

A subject I just completed had over 200 doing it, and for a test out of 30, the class average was 14.5%........something that didn't surprise me as the course was so poorly delivered.

heck... our program does EVERYTHING possible to make you pass... including fudging on grades... we have had only 1 person fail out... of course there have been many that have just straight up quit. There is one person that had failed almost every test this semester... they didn't post her final grades but if she is with us next semester I'm gonna be pissed!

The problem is they will only do this for failing students... if you are 1 point away from an A or a B then forget it!!

Congratulations on your test... and have a good break!

Congratulations,Marlo2bRN, it is a bummer about your mates not passing........we have just finished our RN studies, and unfortunately we had a few not graduate with us also.....
