Any advice on finding a job without my license? What should I tell employers and what should I put on my resume?? Found out Saturday I passed NCLEX now I am ready to jump head first into job hunting but I dont know where to begin considering my license wont be coming thru the mail for a few weeks.
How did you get your first job or go about searching?? I already work at a rehab facility as a nurse tech so I could begin work there but I would like to keep that PRN for the time being. Really would appreciate the help/insight/advice. Thanks a mill:D

In my state (and I am sure in all others), there is a website where employers (or anyone else) can check on nursing licenses not having the paper copy of your license should not be a problem. Congrats on passing. You are now a nurse!!!

You can go to your states medical website and do a license verification. Type in your name and where you live and it will come up if they have assigned your license number yet. I took my NCLEX on Thursday 11/04/10 and had my license number today, 11/09/10. Im in Florida so it's the MQA website, it might be different where you are though. I am sure if you google, "nursing license verification, (your city, state) then you will find the site that you are looking for. Good luck!

All employers verify your license online, by fax, or phone before hiring you whether you have your physical license or not so don't let that stop you from applying for jobs. Just go onto the state website and write down your license number for your own info to put down on the applications. And congrats!
Thankx for the replies..my license was available on the web today and I got a call back...yay:yeah:. ...surprised it happened so quickly. Was expecting to have to wait weeks and weeks for a call back but I hope I get it. And congrats to you student4lyf...

Before my license officially arrived, I attached a printout of the State webpage that listed my number, issue date, etc. to my resume. Got hired. Good luck to you!

Oh, hey! Congrats!
BTW, how many times did you check the website over the weekend? I had to LEAVE THE HOUSE after I took the NCLEX to keep from refreshing the Michigan license number site every five minutes.

That sounds like me I took my test on 11/09 and found out today that I PASSED!!! Oh my gosh what a relief I think that I'm still in shock I just knew that I had failed it. But I checked the website every hour here starting from the moment that I got home. I swore my hair was gonna fall out due to the stress of it all!! Fortunately for me Ilive in Oklahoma and we have a site that we can pay to see our early results cause the state site is down til tom. I couldn't have waited another day

Thanks! LOL! Actually, I wasn't going to check the site. My best friend went with me and we took it together. She called me and told me to check it that the results were in. I was just glad it was over and I was just trusting God that I passed it. :-) I felt different when I came out of the nclex. Can't put my finger on it, but it was like a calm came over me. It was weird. trust me, it stayed in the back of my mind every minute until I found out that I passed.
I did fill out some apps, and I have someone that wants to interview me! SO, I am hoping that all goes well! Good luck everyone with your job hunts!
