why can't i pass this freaking grammar section

I would suggest reading for fun and possibly picking up a high school English book. I rather suspect that based on your writing you grew up not speaking grammatically correct English.

I wasn't proof reading this post, and have had a long day, but yes I did grow up speaking correct English. I'm just having problem picking the correct one.

One question was "pick the correct sentence"

and they seemed to be all incomplete.

I also took it the section last, when I was drones from taking every other section including bio and Chem... I'll probably have to take that section first next time.

The problem is, where do I find questions like that. I know what a noun, pronoun, adverb etc is and I can find plenty of those questions, but I can't find any to where I need to find the incorrect phase in a sentence or sentences that are or aren't grammatically correct.

and yes I didn't proof read or do proper punctuation, I've had a long day.

Too many people think of writing properly as something they need to attempt only in English class. Use what you know and what you learn so that it becomes second nature.

Few of us are perfect, but it's sad to see so many people who either can't write a coherent paragraph or just don't care enough to bother.

I retook my hesi today, i did great on all my sections even the critical thinking but bombed the grammar (64) *****? i just dont understand...... i got ALOT of "which sentence is grammatically correct" "which sentence is grammatically incorrect" and they seriously all looked fine..... Im going to take again for the third time, (V2) and i just dont know what to do or what to study. i have the elsevier book and its great for everything else. i just can't seem to grasp the grammar, and english is my first language, how embarrassing is that!!!

Your post is filled with grammar errors. You may have not tried, since this is just a post on a message board. In case you don't recognize the grammar errors, here are some:

- Your first sentence contains a comma splice. You cannot connect two independent clauses with a comma. The first sentence should have been "I retook my HESI today." The next independent clause should have been the start of a new sentence. (When I was in college, a single comma splice could result in failing the class. It was considered a huge sin.)

- "ALOT" is not a word. "A lot" is correct.

- There should have been a comma between "which sentence is grammatically incorrect" and "and they seriously all looked fine" Two independent clauses connected with a conjunction should have a comma before the conjunction. FYI the comma would be inside the quote as in " 'which sentence is grammatically incorrect,' and they all looked fine."

- "Its" is the possessive form of "it." "It's" is the contraction of "It is." Your comment that "its great for everything else" should have read "it's great for everything else." Remember that in formal writing you should not use any contractions, so instead you would use "it is great for everything else."

Based on your post I would recommend studying punctuation.

My comment was not meant as a slight. A lot of areas of the country have dialects/ways of phrasing things that are not "correct" English. You are probably ahead of me on naming the parts of a sentence, but I always score really high in those types of tests because I have always read ALOT. I know instinctively which is "right" without breaking it apart. It just sounds better to me.

Sorry aside from my earlier suggestions that's all I have.

Even the sentence where you tell us that you grew up speaking correct English is a terrible run on sentence. That could be three separate sentences. Your follow up posts are better than the original post, but are still littered with errors. You have questions ending in a period. Grammar only improves with practice, and lots of reading.

I don't have time to read a lot of books, I was looking for advice on study guides, websites etc. I'm in class full time and taking the exam again when the next spot become avaliable at the test center.
