Pasadena City College RN program

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi,

I've heard that it's not recommended to work while enrolled as a student in an RN program. I'm applying for the Spring Semester at PCC and while I do intend to leave my current employer should I be accepted, I was wondering if there were people who made the attempt to work part-time or possibly in the summer.

Any opinions?

Thanks!

i took it t/th!

aww that sucks having to keep checking deff emails! i put down this name which is weird so im hoping they get it right! all this stuff is distracting me from my current classes!! i can't focus ha ha

oh i see

ya i am taking chem 104 and stats ugh

seriously this whole acceptance/denial thing is all i am thinking about ya know?!

honestly when i really really want something and i get anxious i get kinda obsessive lol

i am so over this semester! did you apply to PCC only? i am sure you qualify for CSULA you should apply! hurry and apply to the CSU's before Nov 30th and then CSULA's nursing application is due dec 1st

TEAS for CSULA is due dec 30th

i believe all the grades excluding micro/speech is due before march 23rd as well as volunteer (>50 hours of patient interaction ) or healthcare exp (again like CNA, LVN, EMT ect)

I have applied and all that is left is looking for healthcare experience since no one is allowing for volunteers around here....not foothill pres or anything! it is a shame!

i bet you can get accepted there! did you take the TEAS yet? I did and only got an 82% :(

you live in glendora? you should also apply to CSUSB and CSULB!!! you will need chem 104 though but --- teaches it and she is awesome! i have like a 96% average in the class right now!

noo i live in la verne! is chem 104 offered in winter? ill have to check! but i have everything else so ill def apply to the csu's! it just sucks cause everything depends on whether or not i get in, so i have to register for classes before i know if i get in or not!! its frustrating! i was supposed to take my TEAS but i had to cancel! so ill have to set that up! as for experience, i currently work as CNA at a hospital so hopefully that will help, i wish PCC gave credit for that, but they don't! i know RCC and LA county does!

Oh really? I'm trying to find a CNA job. Which hospital if I may ask? That is definitely extra points for CSULA

San Dimas community hospital! I can ask our director if they're hiring? They take volunteers too.. And pcc does clinically there

Oh really? They want experience, but I don't have any experience. If you can ask if they are.hiring I will be grateful!

Ya of course! I dont work till Friday! I'm sure they'll hire you if they need to. I didn't have experience either but I knew someone! Would you rather be full or part time? Or even per diem which is like a day a week?

i will do anything! i dont mind any shift, i prefer evening or graveyard...what unit do you work on? i dont mind starting per diem and working my way to part or full time. i really want the experience

They like it when you wanna move up!! I work med-surg telemetry! I started in April! And I love it! It's day or night shift and there 12 hour shifts. It's 6-6:30 either way! I did for the experience as well! Where did you get your certificate?
