Pasadena City College Fall 2014 Application

U.S.A. California

Published

Hello,

I applied at PCC for their fall 2014 generic application and is just curious if anyone who has applied received any acceptance emails yet? Also I was told that if I have not taken the TEAS yet and if accepted to the program I have two weeks to take it. Is it best to take it before knowing if you're in the program or wait until the acceptance email?

Thank you!

I hope I did this right. This doesn't seem like a very big thread at all, especially in comparison to the previous classes, maybe many of the students who got accepted don't know about the forum. But I will see all of you on the 26th :)

You got it! Lol! Thanks again for the wise words :) see you on the 26th!

Am I the only one whose transcripts from PCC did not have their AA degree posted on there? I wasn't even considered for the raffle because of this error. I even made sure to order the transcripts with my AA on them. I'm extremely disappointed.

Oh no! Is there anything they can do to fix this?? That's terrible

I'm sure it's too late now. I've already entered Rio's nursing program, but I'd like to find out how such an error was made, and maybe even get my money back. I thought maybe other student on here had the same problem.

Oh okay good. Still... Follow up. That's just crazy to me. Let us know what happens!

Congrats to those who got in or are alternates. I agree with Ajustine. Say goodbye to your social life or any life for that matter lol! I'll be a second semester PCC RN student this fall and the program is intense. Studying will take most of your time and coffee will be your new best friend so get your Starbucks card registered because you'll be collecting stars fast lol!!! You will have at least one test per week (sometimes two, or three) Like Ajustine said, "get your points early on" because you'll be begging for extra credit later on, and they're very stingy in that department. Get your reading done early and go over it. Understand the concept. If you are good at memorizing, it will not help you much because it's all about critical thinking. If you want to learn, get Mr. Berg for clinicals, he is hard but you will learn...trust me. Plus he makes up most of the clinical tests. Yes, it will be hard work but you will love it. I used to laugh at how much work I had to do. If you can afford not working, that'd be best, but if you do you can still make it work if you organize yourself. Oh yeah...ORGANIZATION is super important. Keep a calendar for your test dates, assignments, clinical check offs, etc. They do change the syllabus here and there so keep up. I think I was lost for the first few weeks, but I was blessed with a very helpful class. Keep in mind that they'll be your new family for the next two years. Enjoy your summer, try to get all the paperwork done early and get your required vaccinations done early as well. Again, CONGRATS!!! Yay!!

Hi there! I had recently gotten accepted into the program and I realize I have about 2 or 3 required GE classes (including nutrition) I need to take in order to graduate or take the NCLEX. Is it possible to complete these classes during the semester with the nurses classes? Or should I complete these extra classes during winter/summer break through out the years?

Also, is it best to get all the health requirements done through PCC?

I'd recommend getting the GE courses out of the way ahead of time if possible. :)

Nutrition for instance can totally be completed in a intercession semester like summer or winter ...when I was at PCC (I opted to choose the nursing program at golden west over my spot at PCC though) but I completed all my general ed coursework at PCC (I took nutrition as an online course and it was super simple to complete)

Hi! It is best to finish your GEs during winter/summer breaks (don't remember if PCC still has a winter session) because the program will take most of your time. As for the health requirements, PCC is pretty helpful with everything since they know the process. One day I was running late for my TB reading appointment and they called me and lectured me about the importance of keeping up my shot schedules and appointment so I could be ready for my physical. LOL! I thought it was too much, but they wanted me to have everything ready, specially since they were gonna close for Xmas break. You can compare the prices from PCC to other clinics in the area to see which is more convenient for you.

What time is the orientation tomorrow? I'm an alternate and thinking of showing up.

No problem, thanks. Let us know how many showed up and how many didn't, if you can of course. Good luck!
