Hi not sure how to use this site:) but I have a question. I currently own a non-medical Homemaker Companion Agency in CT. I just got my first contract with a Home Health agency to staff CNA's for cases that they can't staff. The agency asked if I was intetested in becoming a Home Health Agency licensed by Connecticut. I'm not a RN but I have extensive experience in the field.. Is it possible to become licensed? I do have a social work degree & I have my CNA license.

I am not sure what you are asking, do you mean can you just go take the RN exam based on experience??
If that is the question, the answer is no, you must attending a nursing program, although you may qualify for an all on-line version.

Annie is right, you need to complete a nursing program first and then take an exam to become licensed.

I think the OP is asking if they can become a licensed home health agency without the owner being an RN. Not whether the OP can just become a licensed RN.
Sure you can, but it's not a simple process. It takes many months and then a survey. You need to have an infrastructure of staff, including an RN who can act as clinical leader.

I have always had an interested in getting into the home health/companionship business. Unfortunately I don't have an answer to your original post, but hopefully someone here can help answer that for you - the business/licensing side of things is still foreign to me at the moment.

It would depend on the law in your state. In the state that I live in order to have a home health agency you have to be a physician, RN, or PT.

Congrats on your hard work and success establishing the agency. I agree with the posts about RN licensure. However, would your state allow you to have an RN on staff (for example on call/or a few hours a week) to review cases?
